The 3 Things Tayshia Adams Did When She Learned She'd Be the New Bachelorette
Tayshia Adams didn’t have much turnaround time when producers called her and asked her to be the next Bachelorette because Clare Crawley found love with Dale Moss.
Tayshia made her debut as the new leading lady on Thursday’s episode of "The Bachelorette," and from the looks of it, her season promises as many unexpected moments as the rest of her predecessors.
The Orange County, California, native spoke with Jimmy Kimmel on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Thursday evening about her new role and how she prepared for the big moment.
Kimmel asked if producers told Tayshia about what happened with Clare and Dale. Tayshia said no, she just “got the phone call and they were like, 'Hey, you’re the girl.' I’m like, 'I got you. I’ll be there.'"
Tayshia had to keep her lips sealed about the new gig, but she did tell one person.
She explained, "As soon as I got the phone call, I said I had to do three things. Number one: I have to go run a mile because I just ate two doughnuts. Number two: I have to scream into a pillow because what the hell just happened? Number three: I have to call my mom. That’s exactly what I did."
Tayshia said her mom is trustworthy because "this is not her first rodeo."
She joked, “When I say, 'Keep a secret,' she learned to keep a secret.”
Kimmel inquired how fast she had to get there, and what her lead time was to get prepared.
She responded, "If it was up to [the producers], within an hour. I was like, 'Um, no. I haven’t put on makeup in literally three months. I need to go to CVS. I’m gonna be kissing boys. I need a toothbrush, mouthwash. I have things I need to get.' I left in about 48 hours."
Tayshia ended up staying in the presidential suite at La Quinta Resort & Club — the same room where, as Kimmel put it, "Clare and Dale made sweet love."
Tayshia laughed and said, "When I saw that, I was like, ‘Oh, God.’ Good thing I saged the place. We got some good juju in there."
At the end of their interview, Kimmel made his predictions about Tayshia’s final four, which included Ivan, Ben, Blake, and Zac with the final rose going to Ben.
Was Kimmel correct?
