Kevin Wendt & Astrid Loch Celebrate Would-Be Wedding Day with Champagne and McDonald's
In another world under very different circumstances, Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt would be marrying today in Florida. The coronavirus pandemic and the deadly Tropical Storm Eta, however, threw their wedding plans into disarray.
Kevin and Astrid marked their would-be wedding day by spending time at their new home in Toronto drinking champagne, eating McDonald’s, and playing with their puppy Ace. On Thursday night, they got into the holiday spirit as they attended a drive-through Santa’s village.
Earlier on Thursday, Kevin posted a photo of himself drinking out of a fresh coconut while Astrid sips a cocktail out of a martini glass. He wrote, "Tomorrow was supposed to be our wedding day. Well that’s 2020...On the other hand the Tropical storm in Florida this week would have rained out the wedding soooo... I’m saying glass half full."

Adam Gottschalk, who also postponed his wedding to Raven Gates because of the pandemic, commented, "half full brotha. You’ll get there soon enough!"
Astrid and Kevin opted to celebrate nonetheless. The bride-to-be posted a video on her Instagram Story that showed Egg McMuffins, blueberry muffins, and coffee cups on her table. She wrote, "Thank you for [McDonald's Canada] for remembering our should-have-been-wedding and brightening our day with lots of treats."
Astrid also uploaded a boomerang showing her hand and Kevin’s clinking bride and groom flutes together, writing, "Today calls for champagne regardless."
In May, the Florida native said she and Kevin were "continuing to plan the wedding as if it’s still happening in November.”"Two months later, she announced they had decided to postpone their big day.
Astrid wrote on July 22, "With everything going on in the world, uncertainty ahead, and so many changes happening in our lives (more on that soon) we realized it was time to take a step back and reevaluate our priorities. And as much as I was disappointed at first (mostly bc now we won’t get married on Friday the 13th) it’s been a great reminder of why we’re getting married in the first place."
