Sunday marked 17 years since Trista and Ryan Sutter tied the knot after falling for each other during the inaugural season of "The Bachelorette" in 2003. The milestone comes as Ryan continues to battle mystery health issues, which has made the couple even more aware of how grateful they are to have each other during difficult times.

Trista and Ryan each took to Instagram this weekend to celebrate the strength of their marriage in meaningful posts dedicated to one another.

Trista — who shares son Maxwell, 13, and daughter Blakesley, 11, with Ryan — uploaded a photo of her husband from their wedding day, accompanied by a touching caption explaining why “he’s more handsome than he was on this day 17 years ago.”

“Because he continually works to better himself…and us. Because he is the most humble, hard-working, generous, sincere, kind-hearted human with the biggest heart and even bigger muscles,” she wrote.

“Because his bravery and resilience is something I personally strive for,” she continued. “And that smile and those eyes. I mean…they pretty much slay me. Happy anniversary, Mr. Sutter and thank you for giving me the best years of my life.”

For his part, Ryan — who has repeatedly tested negative for COVID-19 but has been experiencing unexplained fatigue, muscle aches, fevers and congestion, among other symptoms — expressed that he is extra thankful for his wife’s support this year.

“Thank You. For 17 years you’ve been there for me. Through good times and bad, sickness and health, blue skies and rain. You’ve stood by me through difficult times, supported me through change and sympathized with me through struggle,” he wrote. “You’ve shown me grace and taught me gratitude. You challenge me and inspire me. You exemplify love and are a wonderful mother.”

The proud husband concluded, “You are my light, my reason and my hero. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me and the love of my life. Thank you. I love you. Happy Anniversary Mrs. Sutter... #love.”
