Rachel Lindsay Hilariously Eulogizes Bennett After His Dramatic 2-on-1 Elimination
Tayshia Adams bid farewell to Bennett Jordan on last night’s episode of "The Bachelorette" — and no one is more distraught than "Bachelor Happy Hour" co-host Rachel Lindsay.
On the latest episode of her Bachelor Nation podcast with Becca Kufrin, Rachel hilariously eulogized the Harvard grad after his departure — which took place during a dramatic two-on-one date with his nemesis Noah Erb — and revealed what she will miss most about his polarizing presence.
"We have some sad news to report today in Bachelor Nation. Last night, we lost someone great and that someone great was Bennett," said Rachel, who wore all black for the occasion and threw on a pair of shades "because I’m not quite sure where my emotions are going to take me."
"I know we see Bennett pop up later in the episode but let’s just be honest, it ain’t looking good for Bennett," the former "Bachelorette" lead said, acknowledging a final scene in which Bennett surprised Tayshia with a late-night visit to her presidential suite at Palms Springs' La Quinta Resort & Club.
"So, I’m just going to nip it in the bud now because I don’t think my emotions can take another few weeks of this," she added.
"We lost one of the most charismatic, condescending, charming and coolest cats to ever grace Bachelor Nation. The other men wish they could," Rachel continued. "Bennett, we shall miss your wit, your jabs, your ITMs, your emotional intelligence and your chateau. Bennett, I feel you were misunderstood. But if no one else understood you, I did."
Rachel then recalled a group date from earlier this season during which Bennett — despite his Ivy League education — misspelled the word "limousine" and failed to properly execute a math problem.
"I mean, Bennett, who even cares that you couldn’t spell the word limousine? I can’t either! But you know what you can spell, Bennett? Car service. Private jet. Wealth management. And Harvard," said Rachel, a vocal fan of Bennett’s bougie ways. "Who cares that you couldn’t solve a problem that had to do with time, that had to do with clocks? You know what you can solve? You know what you can read? Somebody’s financial statements, assets. You can manage billions and billions of dollars, Bennett."
"If there was a Hall of Fame of Bachelor Nation — gosh darn it, you’d be in it. There will never be another Bennett. And we wish you well on your next journey," she said. "And saying that, I’d like to close with this: How do I say goodbye to the time we had? The good times that made me laugh outweigh the bad. I thought we’d get to see forever, but forever’s gone away. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday."
Trying not to laugh, Becca told Rachel how touching her tribute was. "Rachel, oh my God, that was beautiful. I have tears in my eyes for that lovely eulogy," she said as she took a sip of wine. "Pour one out for Bennett, everyone."
