Tayshia Adams Reflects on Her 'Bachelorette' Love Story with Zac Clark: 'What We Have Is Different'
Something special! Following their engagement on Tuesday night’s “Bachelorette” finale, Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast to reflect on their love story.
Tayshia took a moment to explain why her connection with Zac stood out from the get-go. “It’s different. I think what we have is different,” Tayshia gushed to co-hosts Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin, noting that Zac has always brought out another side of herself.
“Because even when I’m watching back, I’m a little more reserved when I’m with [Zac],” Tayshia continued. “I’m a little more shy and usually a little bit louder and a little bit more bubbly. And with him, I knew I was in trouble because I knew I had found something in him that I’d been looking for. But I was too scared to even acknowledge that [Zac] might really be good for me.”
Becca then brought up the emotional heart-to-heart that Tayshia had with her father, Desmond, toward the end of her journey as the Bachelorette. During their conversation, he warned his daughter, “I don’t want you to be making the biggest mistake of your life.”
Tayshia said that being able to spend time with her family — including her father, mother, Rosario, and brothers Desmond Jr. and Brice — helped her gain clarity about her feelings for Zac. Shortly after reuniting with her loved ones at Palm Springs, California’s La Quinta Resort and Club (where the entirety of “The Bachelorette” Season 16 was filmed inside of a coronavirus-free bubble), she said goodbye to her runner-up, Ben Smith.
“I already had a feeling [about Zac],” Tayshia said. “It goes back to me knowing that Zac really does possess a lot of the qualities that I was looking for. Ben is an amazing man, but I just think that Zachary checked off boxes that I was looking for and then some, things that I didn’t even know I wanted. When I was with him, I was like, ‘I want that.’ So it was just that realization that kind of clicked with me.”
She added, “When you’re with your parents, you can’t hide. They know who you are. When I was with them, it just clicked in my head. I was like, ‘I already know what I want, so what am I doing?’ So, I was just honest with myself.”
