Lauren Burnham Reveals What She Eats in a Day While Pregnant with Twins
She’s eating for three! Lauren Burnham — who is pregnant and expecting twins with husband Arie Luyendyk Jr. — released a new YouTube video detailing what she eats in a day as she carries the couple’s bundles of joy.
Documenting a recent day in her diet, Lauren — who already shares daughter Alessi, 19 months, with Arie — began with a scoop of peanut butter and a cup of decaf coffee. Not long after, her real estate developer hubby made the family protein pancakes topped with powdered sugar and strawberries.
Later, as Arie went grocery shopping with Alessi, Lauren ran errands of her own — but not without an array of snacks. “I’m already eating white cheddar popcorn right now, because I need to snack before I can go because I’m starving,” the Bachelor Nation star said. “It’s, like, two hours after I ate but I’m going to take some blanched slivered almonds with me and some mango slices. Definitely taking the popcorn with me, because it tastes good.”
Lauren went on to say that she makes a concerted effort to remain hydrated during her pregnancy. (In December, she announced that she was having twins, who are due in June.)
“I’ve always got my gallon of water. I drink one of these every day. It actually isn’t as hard as I thought it would be,” she said, adding that she’s also found a liquid healer for her frequent headaches.
“I also have been getting migraines every day, so I started this new thing where I drink coconut water in the middle of the day now,” Lauren said. “So, I’m going to have a glass of that. It seemed to help yesterday.”
For lunch, Lauren grabbed sandwiches for herself and Arie. “I’m doing a whole wheat turkey with veggies sandwich,” the former vegetarian said, explaining why she started incorporating meat back into her daily fare. “This whole year I’ve been vegetarian until I got pregnant. It’s just too hard. I started craving meat and I don’t feel full if I don’t eat meat, so I reverted back. But I’ll probably go back to being vegetarian after I have the babies.”
Lauren, still hungry after her turkey sandwich, next ate leftover beef and rice from the previous night’s takeout. “Don’t judge me,” she joked.
Later, Lauren and Arie made chicken fajita soup for dinner, using a slow cooker that was a gift from Chris Harrison. “Lauren used to eat very light and now things are a lot more hearty, and I’ve now gained 7 pounds,” Arie said as Lauren worked on the soup.
After preparing dinner, Lauren and Alessi each took a nap — and upon waking, they both dug into Babybel cheese wheels.
Arie, Lauren, and Alessi eventually ate the chicken fajita soup together. However, the soon-to-be mom of three wasn’t done grazing. After sharing blueberries with her daughter, Lauren capped off her night with a protein smoothie made with chocolate Almond Breeze and peanut butter.
“I call it my Baby Reese Smoothie named after the baby I’ll never get to name Reese because Arie hates that name,” Lauren said with a laugh.
Incidentally, Lauren and Arie revealed weeks ago in a separate YouTube video that they already have names picked out for their twins.
According to the Scottsdale, Arizona-based pair, their chosen monikers are especially meaningful considering the devastating miscarriage they suffered in May.
“I picked the names out for our future kids before Alessi was even born. I’ve had them ready to go,” said Lauren, who married Arie in January 2019 following a whirlwind romance that played out on Season 22 of “The Bachelor.”
“We picked them almost two years ago now and we just found out what they mean,” she said, though she is not yet ready to reveal her babies' names. “It’s just so symbolic of our journey and where we are in this whole thing now.”
