Matt James Was 'Shocked' to See Heather Martin Crash His Season of 'The Bachelor'
One more surprise! After five new contestants infiltrated the competition for Matt James’ heart, the reigning Bachelor never expected to see another woman crash his season — especially not Heather Martin, a familiar face from the franchise.
Matt teased Heather’s return to the series in a new interview with Us Weekly, published Wednesday.
“I have met Heather before [but] I had no relationship with her,” the handsome lead told the outlet. “But she does have a relationship with one of my good friends, Hannah Brown. I was just as shocked to see her as everyone else was when she arrived, and I think it makes for a very interesting conversation.”
As seen in a promo for Monday night’s episode, Chris Harrison greets Heather as she pulls up to Farmington, Pennsylvania’s Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in a white minivan. “Heather, what are you doing here?” he asks before warning her, “You could honestly destroy this whole thing for Matt.”
In another sneak peek, released in January, Heather ignores Chris’ deterrence and ventures forth into the resort to see if she and Matt might be a match. “I feel like I’m in a dream right now,” the New York City-based real estate broker says, clearly surprised to see Heather.
Heather’s presence seems to ruffle feathers among Matt’s group of women, as Pieper James is heard lamenting, “You already had your f--king shot at ‘The Bachelor.’ Like, go home!”
Elsewhere, Heather tells the camera that she is willing to fight for Matt’s affections no matter how difficult it may be to do so. “This is like an impossible situation,” she says through tears. “Still, like, I do feel like Matt’s worth it.”
As Bachelor Nation is well aware, the blonde beauty previously appeared on Season 23 of “The Bachelor” in 2019. She was once best known as the girl who’s “never been kissed” before locking lips with lead Colton Underwood.
See how her story unfolds with Matt when “The Bachelor” airs Monday on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
