Tayshia Adams & Joe Amabile Share 'Embarrassing' High School Stories
Though they are two of the most beloved stars in Bachelor Nation, Tayshia Adams and Joe Amabile admit they weren’t so cool during their teen years. On the latest episode of “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation,” the podcast hosts shared hilariously “embarrassing” high school stories.
First up was Tayshia. “There’s this one thing in high school — and we’ll keep this really short, because it’s honestly embarrassing — but I went to an all-girls high school,” the Season 16 Bachelorette began. “And there’s one thing that we did every single year. It was called ‘Red and Gold’ and the entire school had to participate within this thing. It was theater basically. It was a performance.”
She elaborated, “Half the school was red, half the school was gold. And each team had departments. So, there was lighting, art, a scriptwriter, acting, dancers, whatever it was. And every day we would take 45 minutes out of the day and you would do what you would have to do to rehearse in order to put on this production.”
Tayshia went on to say that “people from Disney” would come to her high school in Orange County, California, to judge the show and pick a winning team. She also added that she typically flexed her acting chops in “Red and Gold” productions.
“I was always on drama. Surprise, surprise. And I was Marie Antoinette one year. I had to own that thing and I had to do it in front of many people,” she continued. “I had to put on this fake English accent, and if I can do that, I can do anything. I’ll tell you right now, that was the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever done!”
Joe then told his own cringeworthy anecdote. “I went to an all-boys high school. Homecoming was coming up. I think it was sophomore year that I asked this girl, Angela, out to our homecoming,” the Illinois native recalled. “She was a cheerleader, and all the cheerleaders were lined up. It was a football game and so everyone was there.”
The handsome 34-year-old elaborated, “So, I had to walk up and ask her to homecoming, because you did everything in person back then. There was no texting or anything like that. I was so embarrassed that I stood there and stared at her for like three minutes. I didn’t say anything.”
While stuck in his tracks, Joe said that his friends, who were standing nearby, were “just cracking up.”
Still, Angela ended up accepting his invite. “Her friends were going, ‘Just ask her already, just ask her.’ And then finally I was like, ‘Hey, do you wanna go to homecoming?’ And she said, ‘Yeah,’” Joe said. “And we made out, so it was cool.”
