Experience Bimini, Bahamas, Like Nick Viall on 'The Bachelor'
There’s a lot to love about Bimini, Bahamas: The azure water, white sand beaches, fresh seafood, friendly residents, and wildlife galore! Bimini’s clear sea is dotted with old shipwrecks, giving a historic feel to an otherwise timeless location. In fact, some early explorers believed the Fountain of Youth existed on the island! When you visit, you, too, can relive that young love feeling that you wish lasts for eternity.
Located only 50 miles from Miami and 130 miles from the Bahamian capital of Nassau, Bimini serves as the perfect spot for a romantic escape that’s easily accessible while feeling like a world away. Nick Viall traveled to the island on Season 21 of “The Bachelor,” and here’s how you can follow suit.
Where to Stay
At merely 10 miles long, Bimini is a very small island, but don’t let its size deter you! What makes Bimini so special is that you’ll have beachside access anywhere you stay. This feels especially true at Resorts World Bimini. This Hilton hotel takes up 750 acres — about half of the entire island — and consists of 305 rooms, 10 restaurants, and three pools. It’s almost like every room is its own Fantasy Suite!
Take your date’s hand and learn new things about each other as you wander around the resort’s extensive grounds.
One-on-One Date: I Ship This Date
Nowadays, people express their enthusiasm about relationships using the colloquial phrase “I ship this.” It’s time for others to ship your relationship as you and your date take that meaning to a whole new level during your date to a shipwreck. Rent a boat or a yacht and make your way over to the famous S.S. Sapona. It’s a concrete ship that served many purposes back in its heyday, from functioning as a casino and alcohol storage in the 1920s and then a bombing target during World War II.
You and your date can live on the adventurous side and snorkel around the wreck or just swim in the waters around it. This ship may be stationary, but your relationship is anything but that!
Once you’ve dried off from your day in the water, head over to Big John’s for dinner and dancing. Bust out your best moves and then shimmy your way over to your table to indulge in some of the freshest seafood around. Use this opportunity romance your date and tell them they’re the ultimate catch.
Group Date: Scary Good Time
Relationships are all about trying new things and conquering fears together, and nothing embodies that like swimming with sharks. Charter a boat and dive alongside sharks and other marine animals at Triangle Rock.
Dive headfirst into your future together and see which person will swim straight into your heart.
To make your vacation feel even more like Nick’s season of “The Bachelor,” hand a rose to one special someone and whisk them away to a private dinner for just the two of you. Nick and his date got serenaded by Adam Friedman, so you two can have your own special moment and slow dance to your favorite tunes.
One-on-One Date: Ernest Love
After a few days out on the water, take your adventuring onto land! Grab your date and roam around North Bimini, stopping at must-sees like the Gallant Lady shipwreck and Bimini Craft Center. If you’re a bookworm, make a pilgrimage to The Compleat Angler, a hotel where Ernest Hemingway lived from 1935 to 1937. It burned down in 2006, but you can still walk by and see some remnants of the hotel.
When hunger strikes, it’s an absolute necessity to try one of Bimini’s specialties — conch salad. Stuart’s Conch Stand makes some of the best around, and when you visit, you’ll understand why visitors flock here. Order up and sit outside at one of the tables overlooking the ocean. Use this opportunity to catch up with your date and chat about how your trip to Bimini feels as refreshing as the food right in front of you.
If only vacations themselves could receive a rose!
Bimini may be small, but there are ample opportunities for both adventurous and romantic outings that will undoubtedly bring your relationship to the next level. The island is calling your name, so listen to those wanderlust yearnings and book a trip to Bimini as soon as you can!
