This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Clare Crawley Gives Juan Pablo Galavis a Piece of Her Mind in Dramatic Finale Exit
An exit to remember! This week marks seven years since Clare Crawley said goodbye to Juan Pablo Galavis in epic fashion during the “Bachelor” Season 18 finale in 2014.
As Bachelor Nation will recall, the pair’s love story was filled with a few ups — and an abundance of downs.
Juan Pablo and Clare had an undeniable chemistry that manifested in a romantic (and possibly intimate) nighttime jaunt in the ocean while filming in Vietnam. Shortly thereafter, the single dad shockingly turned on Clare, telling her that he was regretful of their behavior because he had a daughter. The conversation left the front-runner feeling browbeaten, ashamed, and unsure of her standing with Juan Pablo.
The duo ultimately reconciled when Juan Pablo invited Clare to join him on a one-on-one date. The stunning hairstylist eventually made it to Fantasy Suites and, during their overnight, Clare decided that Juan Pablo’s panic over their midnight swim was simply a sign of the love that he had for his child.
But more conflict came when cameras briefly went down as Juan Pablo and Clare’s helicopter was landing in St. Lucia. According to Clare, Juan Pablo leaned over and whispered something into her ear that was sexual in nature and so inappropriate she refused to repeat his words back in their entirety.
However, Clare did explain that Juan Pablo’s main sentiment was that he didn’t know her well but loved “f--king” her. She went on to describe what he said as “something no woman wants to hear.”
Clare later confronted Juan Pablo about his offensive remark and he vaguely defended himself. Clare appeared to accept his justification in the moment, and it seemed as though she was still holding on to the idea of one day becoming Mrs. Galavis.
When it came down to the final two, though, and Juan Pablo chose Nikki Ferrell over Clare, the future Bachelorette — who went on to lead Season 16 in 2020 — ripped into the Bachelor, giving him a piece of her mind.
“This entire time I’ve stuck around because I believed in you,” she told him during the final Rose Ceremony.
“I thought I knew what kind of man you were,” Clare added, refusing to hear Juan Pablo tell her about the moment he decided he didn’t want her. “I lost respect for you. I thought I knew what kind of man you were. What you just made me go through — I would never want my children having a father like you.”
With that, Clare — resplendent in a gorgeous green gown — walked away.
“Hoo!” Juan Pablo said. “I’m glad I didn’t pick her.”
Hoo! We’re glad, too, JP.
