'Click Bait': Nick Viall Discusses Exclusive Interview with Bri Springs and Her 'After the Final Rose' Experience
Nick Viall stopped by “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” to chat with co-hosts Tayshia Adams, Joe Amabile, and Natasha Parker about his exclusive interview with “Bachelor” Season 25 star Bri Springs.
The Season 21 Bachelor recently sat down with Bri for an episode of his “Viall Files” podcast, during which he spoke to the standout contestant about her “After the Final Rose” experience.
Bri, who came in third place in the competition for Matt James’ heart, discussed her “Bachelor” journey with host Emmanuel Acho. However, her segment was edited out of the final cut of the one-hour finale special, which largely focused on runner-up — and new Bachelorette — Michelle Young’s breakup with Matt, as well as winner Rachael Kirkconnell’s past racist social media activity and how it impacted her relationship with the Bachelor. (Matt announced their split during his “AFR” appearance.)
“I went to Bri. I was like, ‘Weren’t you [there]? When are we going to see you?’ She was like, ‘Well, I was there.’ And then I’m like, ‘Were you edited out?’” Nick recounted on “Click Bait.” “And she’s like, ‘Yeah.’ And I kind of made a joke, like, ‘Well, that’s great news for me since you’re on my podcast.’ But I did feel bad.”
He continued, “I understand her frustration. She’s got a story to tell, and it was deemed not as entertaining for whatever reason by the producers. And there’s always a lack of time. I get it.”
Nick went on to say that Bri was “gracious” despite her initial indignation at being erased from “AFR.” He elaborated, “She didn’t seem resentful or anything — but appropriately annoyed, I think would be the fair thing to say, as anyone would be. It sounded like she only spoke with Emmanuel. She didn’t have a sit-down with Matt and didn’t talk with him.”
The former franchise lead also explained that, while Michelle seemed intent on getting closure from Matt at “AFR,” Bri had made peace with Matt’s decision to send her home shortly after filming wrapped at Pennsylvania’s Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in the fall of 2020.
“[Michelle] didn’t have the closure from Matt that she wanted and she deserved when Matt broke up with her,” Nick said. “And Bri felt differently for herself. Whatever conversation she had with Matt while filming did in fact allow her to move on and accept Matt’s decision and be OK.”
