Ben Zorn Reflects on the Joys of First-Time Fatherhood and Bachelor Nation Baby Boom
Nearly two months after his son, Logan Thomas, was born, new dad Ben Zorn is still on cloud nine.
“Having a family has always been a dream of mine,” the franchise star tells BachelorNation.com in an exclusive interview. “I’ve always loved the idea of creating someone or something that is part me and teaching them all the amazing things life has to offer.”
Ben and fiancée Stacy Santilena — who are based in San Jose, California — welcomed their precious baby boy on February 14, the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
“Everyone talks about it, but I never understood how much and how fast you could love something that doesn’t do much but eat, sleep, and poop,” the first-time father says with a laugh. “It’s funny. It’s only been a short time, but I already love him so much!”
Logan is one of several infants who are part of a recent Bachelor Nation baby boom. “It’s actually pretty cool!” enthuses Ben, noting how his franchise family is expanding. “I love being part of the Bachelor family and everyone is so nice sharing tips and ideas.”

Lesley Murphy and fiancé Alex Kavanagh’s daughter Nora Blanche made her debut on February 12, while Krystal Nielson and boyfriend Miles Bowles became parents to daughter Andara Rose on March 31. Meanwhile, a series of show alums are expecting bundles of joy to arrive later this year — including Lauren Bushnell, Bob Guiney, Josiah Graham, Diggy Moreland, and couple Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham.
“It’s so cool seeing everyone evolve in their life into parents,” says Ben, who fans met on “The Bachelorette” Season 11 in 2015 before he hit the beaches of “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 4 in 2017. “It’s kind of fun knowing that we’ll all have kids at Bachelor weddings and reunions.”
Below, the handsome fitness enthusiast shares more about his path to parenthood with Stacy, their plan to (finally!) tie the knot this summer, and little Logan’s latest milestones.
What has life been like since welcoming Logan?
It’s been crazy! We’re loving every minute of it, though. It’s definitely been a whirlwind of changes with the lack of sleep, changing diapers, and learning what makes him tick. But it’s worth every moment.
What is your favorite part of fatherhood so far?
My favorite part of being a dad so far has been the skin-to-skin contact we do. He just falls asleep on my chest and it’s the cutest thing. I never expected the amount of emotions and feels that would give me!

How do you think fatherhood has changed you?
It’s something that never really affected me before, but watching commercials or backstories of people on shows like “American Idol” and seeing a father-son interaction makes me a little teary-eyed now. Seeing how proud some of the fathers are of their kids makes me so happy, and I can’t wait to be in that position with Logan.
What has surprised you about fatherhood? Have there been any challenges?
What surprised me most was how every baby is so different. I’ve talked to friends and family about kids, and they all give their two cents, which is great, but there’s so much advice and you just have to sort through what works for you and your baby.
The milestones are so frequent at this stage — what are some of Logan’s latest?
Logan’s biggest milestones that we get excited about have been seeing him smile for the first time, and finally getting him to take a bath without crying. That was a big win for us! (Laughs)
What milestones are you most looking forward to in the future?
The milestones I’m looking forward to the most are pretty much any sporting activity. I can’t wait to teach him how to play golf, throw a football, or play baseball — or just exercise in general. Stacy and I have both talked about how it’s exciting to think one day he will have a family of his own. That’s looking a little far ahead, but we’re definitely excited about that as well!

I love the name Logan Thomas. How did you and Stacy come up with that?
Logan was just a name that we both really liked in the beginning. We threw out other ideas, but that’s the one that stuck. We knew we wanted the middle name to have something to do with one of our families. The middle name Thomas comes from Stacy’s father. He’s an awesome guy and the name fit great.
Obviously, parenthood is a partnership. How do you and Stacy juggle your roles as mom and dad? Do you split up duties in any particular way?
Yes, it’s 100 percent a team effort for sure. Stacy has been so great throughout this entire process. She’s obviously doing a lot of it because she’s at home with him and can feed him. But any time I’m home, I’ll change all the diapers and I usually give him a bottle before bed. The first two weeks while I was home, I changed all the diapers while Stacy was recovering.
What would be your top tips for new parents?
Oh man, patience and teamwork. I can’t stress those two enough. These little ones will challenge your patience like never before. I am so grateful to have such a good partner and teammate in Stacy to help share the load. I don’t know how single parents do it. I have so much more respect and appreciation for how they are able to do it all. Parenting is hard, but I think that’s why they make them so cute!
How would you describe Stacy as a mom?
It’s so amazing to watch her because she’s such a natural. She was so nervous before on whether or not she would have a connection and how strong it would be. But she’ll tell you she loves him so much — and each and every day that love grows. We’re both still winging it and trying to figure things out, but she has so much patience with him and has totally stepped into the role of mom like a champ!
How did the novel coronavirus pandemic impact her pregnancy experience?
This really is an interesting time. It’s been a double-edged sword. On one hand, it’s been great being able to spend so much time at home and help Stacy out. But on the other, I wasn’t able to go to any of her doctors’ appointments — so that was hard for me, not being able to be there to support her.
I love that you constantly shared updates on Stacy’s pregnancy and held the fruit up to her belly to show how Logan was growing. How did you come up with that idea?
I can’t remember where we got the idea. I think Stacy saw it somewhere and thought it would be cool. It was so interesting every time we took a picture because it really puts it into perspective on what’s going on in there! I’m glad we did because now we have those cute little memories forever.

You have such a beautiful relationship with Stacy and just began your new life as a family of three. How do you think your experience within the Bachelor franchise helped you reach this point?
Being on the show opened me up more emotionally. It really helped me talk about how I was feeling and what I was going through, which has made me a better man and a better person.
What are your current wedding plans after COVID-19 forced you and Stacy to press pause?
After our wedding got postponed last year, we have rescheduled to this July. I am very much looking forward to finally marrying Stacy! It’s kind of cool now actually that we get to share our moment with little Logan as well.
Will you let Logan watch your Bachelor Nation journey one day?
I will 100 percent let Logan watch my season [of “The Bachelorette”] someday. It’s kind of funny. It’s like how parents share some of their old high school highlights, except for mine were on national TV. I think it’ll be fun for him to see his old man. (Laughs)
Would you ever encourage him to go on the show when he’s old enough?
If he wants to do it, then I will 100 percent support it. I think the biggest guidance that I would give him is that no matter what, you have to be comfortable and confident in who you are and what you stand for. It’s not easy in today’s day and age, where every move and word is critiqued. As long as he’s good with that, then I will support him every step of the way.
