DeAnna Pappas Remembers Her Late Grandfather in Touching Post: 'I Will Miss Him Dearly'
DeAnna Pappas mourned the death of her late grandfather — whom she affectionately called her “Papou,” a nod to her Greek heritage — in a touching Instagram post shared Thursday.
“In the last couple of days, I have been processing the loss of my dear Papou. My Yia Yia & Papou were always a safe place for me & I have nothing but wonderful memories of the many years I was blessed to have with them,” the Season 4 Bachelorette captioned a slideshow of memories with her grandparents.
“My sweet Papou was 99 years old, a veteran, loved to golf, loved to eat, & the patriarch of our family,” she continued. “I have always admired his dedication to our family, his worth ethic, his ability to drive across town because the bologna was cheaper at a different grocery store, his love of the Tennessee Volunteers (He ushered the games for many years), & his faith to the Greek Church.”
DeAnna concluded her note with a message of gratitude for the time spent with her grandfather.
“I will miss him dearly. But I am thankful he is resting in the Lords loving arms,” she wrote. “I imagine him in Heaven, eating so much Pastitsio & dancing nonstop with my beloved Yia Yia! I will forever cherish the many, many memories I hold dear.”
Several members of the franchise alum’s Bachelor Nation family shared their condolences in the comments section of her tribute.
“I am so truly sorry D. LOVE that you see him eating and dancing with your Yia Yia!!! Beautiful tribute,” wrote Season 1 Bachelorette Trista Sutter.
“So sorry for your loss! He sounds like a fantastic man. I’ll be praying for peace over you and your family,” added Season 9 Bachelorette Desiree Siegfried, while “The Bachelor” Season 12 alum Holly Durst commented, “Oh DeAnna, I am so incredibly sorry to hear this. I’m praying for your heart!”
