How Justin Anderson Fixed BFF Kristin Cavallari's 'Broken Yellow Hair' and Made Her a Blonde Icon
Celebrity hair colorist Justin Anderson stopped by “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” and dished on his years-long friendship with reality TV royalty Kristin Cavallari.
“I started doing Kristin years ago and we always laugh about it. She had a full head of extensions with short, broken yellow hair,” recounted Justin, who has known her since she was 18, at the height of her “Laguna Beach” fame.
“And I was like, ‘Girl, I’ve got to fix this hair,’” the master colorist and blonde aficionado added with a laugh. “So, we’ve been working on it forever.”
Years later, Kristin’s star rose exponentially as an actress and cast member on “The Hills,” MTV’s wildly popular “Laguna Beach” spin-off. In the midst of that success, she became a paparazzi magnet with her image frequently published on beauty blogs and in the style pages of celebrity weeklies.
“It’s funny because Kristin turned into one of my people. Of all the other celebrities I work on, everyone loves Kristin’s hair,” noted Justin, whose A-list clientele includes Jennifer Aniston, Miley Cyrus, and Margot Robbie, among others.
“There’s something about [Kristin’s hair],” he continued. “Everyone wants to know about her makeup, her outfits, her hair, like even more than every other celebrity [who I work with].”
Justin and Kristin have since launched a line of products suited for blondes within his dpHUE hair care line. The pair have also collaborated on camera, with Justin stepping into a supporting role on Kristin’s E! docuseries, “Very Cavallari,” which ended after three seasons in 2020.
“She is my real best friend. We’ve been friends for close to 20 years now. And I went on to her reality show. When I did her reality show, everyone assumed that’s when we first started hanging out,” he said. “So, everyone was kind of like, ‘Who is this guy?’”
Justin elaborated, “All of a sudden it opens everyone to be like, ‘Who’s this guy chasing Kristin around for clout?’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, we’ve been friends for, like, 20 years.’ This is just a glimpse of what our real life is. So, it’s been fun to go through all that with her. I couldn’t have done it on my own. Reality TV is a different world.”
