'The Bachelorette Australia' Casts First Bisexual Lead in Season Featuring Male and Female Contestants
“The Bachelorette Australia” is making history.
The upcoming season will feature the series’ first openly bisexual lead — 26-year-old Brooke Blurton. The stunning youth worker’s journey will see her pursuing love with both male and female contestants.
Australia’s Network 10 announced the exciting news on Wednesday. Shortly after, Brooke shared a statement of her own, expressing her excitement at breaking new ground for the franchise.
“I am so ready for this,” Brooke said. “Having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life is a truly unique and special experience.”
The Western Australia native — who is also the franchise’s first Indigenous star — went on to describe her ideal partner as someone who “loves me for me” and has “shared values and compassion for others.”
The “Bachelor Australia” and “Bachelor in Paradise Australia” alum added, “I’m so excited and hope that I finally find that person I’ve been waiting for.”

Later, Osher Günsberg, host of “The Bachelorette Australia,” shared well wishes for Brooke in a touching statement.
“We are a nation of people from so many different backgrounds, so many different cultures and so many different experiences, yet we all have one thing in common — we all want to be loved in a way that is meaningful to us,” the TV personality said. “I can’t wait to get started on helping our Bachelorette Brooke find that kind of love.”
Congrats, Brooke!
