This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Amy Schumer & More Comedy Queens Coach Kaitlyn Bristowe's Men in Hilarious Stand-Up Date
As viewers of “The Bachelorette” Season 11 will recall, Kaitlyn Bristowe loved nothing more than a good joke.
This week marks six years since the show aired a fun group date that saw the beloved franchise lead testing her suitors’ senses of humor — with the help of comedy queens Amy Schumer, Nikki Glaser, Rachel Feinstein, and Bridget Everett.
Amy and her funny friends tutored the guys on how to deliver a punch line as they prepared for their stand-up debuts at the famous Improv Comedy Club in Los Angeles.
“I’m excited for Amy to show these guys the ropes. I feel like it’s going to be a funny date,” a thrilled Kaitlyn enthused.
“Amy Schumer? Wow! We’re talking about an excellent comedian here. She’s dirty. She’s funny as hell,” marveled contestant Joshua.
“You guys, Kaitlyn is funny. To keep up with her, you’ve got to have a sense of humor,” Amy told Kaitlyn’s men, while later admitting in a confessional: “This is going to be an absolute massacre. I’m really hoping that these guys surprise me and Kaitlyn and everybody. But it doesn’t look good.”
Despite Amy’s concern, Kaitlyn said that she was delightfully shocked by the amateur performances. “Each person impressed me,” she said. “To get up on stage in front of an audience, it’s a scary thing.”
Later in the evening, J.J. — whose stand-up act caused Kaitlyn to erupt in a fit of giggles — handed her rose to the handsome former investment banker after an emotional conversation about his life as a divorced dad.
Kaitlyn’s run as the Season 11 Bachelorette ended with an engagement to Shawn Booth. The pair called it quits in 2019 after nearly four years together.
These days, Kaitlyn is engaged to fellow Bachelor Nation star Jason Tartick. She will be returning to “The Bachelorette” this year. Kaitlyn and Tayshia Adams will be acting as mentors to Season 17 lead Katie Thurston throughout her journey (premiering Monday, June 7, on ABC at 8 p.m. ET).
