Thomas Jacobs Reflects on His Bachelor Aspirations: 'I Thought There Was a Possibility'
Thomas Jacobs stopped by “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” to chat about his controversial run on “The Bachelorette” Season 17 — and his much-discussed desire to become the Bachelor.
As Thomas explained to co-hosts Tayshia Adams and Joe Amabile, he has no regrets about how he handled himself on the show.
“If [my castmates] ask me a direct question, ‘Is the thought of being the Bachelor anything that crossed your mind?’ — I’m not going to lie to them and I’m definitely not going to lie to myself,” he said. “Because at the end of the day, the people on that show need to live with their truth. And for me, I was living in my truth. And that’s all we can do as people.”
As viewers will recall, the contestant became a polarizing figure on the show after he expressed his wish to be the Bachelor with his castmates. After Thomas’ admission incited major drama in the house, Katie Thurston sent him home in a blistering Rose Ceremony speech aimed at his aspirations to one day lead the franchise.
“That was an honest fact,” Thomas reflected. “Yes, at some point in my life, I thought there was a possibility being on a show like this that you could become the Bachelor. And I also thought you could fall in love.”
The handsome real estate broker — who ultimately made amends with Katie at the “Men Tell All” special — added with a laugh, “What I didn’t think is you could become the villain, which was my biggest mistake. That showed me.”
