‘The Bachelorette’s’ Ryan Discusses the Contents of His Infamous Notes and Why He Brought Them to the Show
Bachelor Nation fans saw Bachelorette Michelle Young send home her suitor Ryan on night one after Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams informed her that he brought extensive notes about her and the show with him during filming.
Ryan had folders that contained notes about teachers, the Bachelor franchise shows, how to get more screen time, what previous cast members to emulate, how to not be a villain, and more.
As soon as Kaitlyn and Tayshia told Michelle, she went with Ryan to his room and had a look through the notes for herself. Ultimately, Michelle decided to send Ryan home because she’s looking for a man who’s authentically being himself rather than trying to get more screen time or figure out how to get a good edit.
Ryan stopped by the “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast to explain his infamous “Bachelorette” notes and reveal why he decided to bring them with him in the first place.

When co-host Joe Amabile asked Ryan how the notes came to be, Ryan explained that he had an extremely busy work schedule prior to filming and hardly had time to buy the clothes he needed for the show.
Ryan said, “I had zero time to do anything. I’m working over 60 hours a week and I was given a short amount of time to get ready, so I asked my friend’s wife if she could give me a summary of the show and Michelle.”
He explained that some of what we saw were notes from his friend’s wife, but some of it was also his personal journal.
Ryan said, “I also printed my journal. I’m a big journaler. I think it’s helpful for being introspective. And one of the things they read was my pros and cons list of myself. That same list also had a summary of my past relationships. After every relationship, I’ll write a narrative of what good happened in that relationship and what bad happened in that relationship.”

Ryan said that he didn’t have time to read his friend’s wife’s notes before leaving for the show, so he just printed that along with his journal to take with him.
“Click Bait” co-host Natasha Parker asked Ryan if he understood why people would think all the notes are weird and unsettling in hindsight, and he claimed that he really wasn’t trying to “game the system” in the Bachelor world.
Ryan said, “I think that’s where the misunderstanding was. It was literally my journal. What she was reading was my personal journal. There were the notes my friend gave me, but there was also my personal journal. That part wasn’t about Michelle in any way.”
And so Ryan and Michelle’s love story came to a halt at the end of night one and he was sent home before the Rose Ceremony.
