Michelle Young Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at Balancing Teaching and Being the Bachelorette
Late nights in the classroom!
Michelle Young is balancing her roles as both a fifth-grade teacher in Minnesota and as ABC’s Bachelorette.
Michelle has previously discussed what it’s been like living this double life, and this week she gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at a typical Tuesday evening for her.
While this week’s episode of “The Bachelorette” was about to air, Michelle took to her Instagram Stories from her classroom to let fans know she’d be tuning in as soon as possible.
She said, “The reality of being the Bachelorette and a teacher at the same time. So many people are gearing up for tonight’s episode, and I’m gearing up for my last parent-teacher conference. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Michelle continued, adding, “You better believe when I’m finished, I’m hopping in my car and zooming home safely and I’m turning on ‘The Bachelorette.’”
And she did just that! Michelle made it home in time to live-tweet the episode, including the first group date where she hilariously wrote, “Not sure if I have more anxiety from watching these poor men go through the G-Force machine again or from realizing my dad has already seen me kiss 3 people and we aren’t even halfway through the episode.”

And this isn’t the first time that Michelle has opened up about her double life as a teacher and the Bachelorette.
Last week, Michelle stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast and spoke about how she balances all her responsibilities.
The Bachelorette said, “It’s a total double life that I feel like I’m living right now. It’s busy, it’s hectic, I’m definitely tired. But I will say being back in the classroom has made me feel so much like myself, and it’s nice because this world can get kind of overwhelming at times.”
She added that her students keep her feeling humble and grounded, noting, “Sometimes getting to be able to put it all down and be in the classroom with my students, I’m able to have that old piece of my routine. I’m truly Miss Young. My old life is still with me. It keeps me balanced in a way.”
And we’re lucky her students are sharing Michelle with the world so we all can appreciate how incredible she is both as a Bachelorette and as a teacher!
