Sarah Herron Opens Up About Her IVF Embryo Transfer Being Unsuccessful: ‘We Are So Disappointed’
Bachelor Nation first met Sarah Herron on Season 17 of “The Bachelor.” Sarah also hit the beaches of “Bachelor in Paradise” on Seasons 1 and 3 in hopes of finding love.
While she ended up finding love and getting engaged off-screen to her fiancé Dylan Brown, Sarah has kept Bachelor Nation fans up with her life on social media over the years.
Sarah has been extremely open with fans about important topics like fertility, egg freezing, limb differences, and mental health.
Earlier this month, she shared an important step in her IVF journey: the embryo transfer.

Just before transfer day, Sarah took to Instagram to write a post to her fiancé, saying, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d get to do this with someone as special as you, Dylan. Thank you for making an incredible life with me. However this journey plans out, I’m at peace (and utter joy) knowing that it will be with you. Little embryo #1 let’s do this!”
A couple weeks later, Sarah shared a sad update with her followers.
On Thanksgiving Day, the Bachelor Nation star shared an Instagram post, writing, “Unfortunately, it isn’t the Thanksgiving news we were hoping for, but our embryo transfer resulted in a chemical pregnancy. We are so disappointed, but deeply thankful we got to experience pregnancy for a day. It was magical. Our little embaby got to spend a day with her parents for a desert hike in Escalante.”
Sarah discussed what her and her fiancé’s plans are for next steps, saying, “The fantastic news is that our little girl embryo did implant! The frustrating part is that we can’t be sure why she wasn’t able to stick. She was a perfectly graded embryo. We suspect the reason is due to inflammation caused by silent endometriosis. We were so comforted and encouraged by @eggwhisperer who was there to support us as soon as we found out and offered immediate next steps.”
The Bachelor Nation star added, “We are considering another egg retrieval to create more embryos, followed by laparoscopic surgery to remove the Endo, and then we will transfer again.”

Sarah said that she wanted to share her story to shed light on the fact that transfers are not always successful and that’s all right.
“It’s also OK to be deeply angry, sad, disappointed and in pain. These last few days have been so hard. I’m incredibly uncomfortable in my body and emotions, and it’s the first time I’ve questioned if I’m strong enough to go through all of what’s ahead again,” Sarah said.
“And while supported by a network of women in similar positions, I feel unexplainably alone,” she continued. “The mental challenge is a process I must walk for myself. It’s harder than anything I’ve ever done. I am in complete awe of the women who’ve fought the good fight for countless years. This sh*t is HARD—you all truly are warriors. And so, we begin again!”
Many of Sarah’s fellow Bachelor Nation stars showed her support in the comments, with Jade Roper Tolbert writing, “Love you Sarah.”
And Lesley Murphy also chimed in, writing, “I love you. I hate that y’all are experiencing such pain, but wishing, hoping, and praying for this new beginning.”
We’re sending Sarah and her fiancé Dylan love as they navigate this journey, and we thank Sarah for being so open with sharing the highs and the lows every step of the way. We know her sharing their story will help so many other people.
