Caelynn Miller-Keyes Updates Fans After ‘Scary’ Accident with Their New Dog Alastor
Bachelor Nation fans know that Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert welcomed a new member to their family earlier this month.
After their beloved dog Pappy passed away in November, Dean and Caelynn took some time to heal before rescuing their new pup, Alastor Moody.
But unfortunately, Caelynn shared on social media that Alastor accidentally bit her during a confrontation with another dog.
She shared a photo of her face bandaged, writing, “I had a little accident with Al the other day. He bit my face when I tried to get him away from a dog that was being aggressive towards him. It definitely could’ve been worse and I’m super lucky.”
In her post on Instagram, Caelynn said she shared more of the story in her recent YouTube vlog.
In the vlog, Caelynn shared what happened, revealing, “Al bit me because we were outside in the front yard with our friends and a German shepherd walked by and the owner wouldn’t take the dog away and they were sniffing each other. The German shepherd just started going after Alastor. I knelt down to pick up Alastor and got in the middle, so he came and latched onto my face. I didn’t know what to do. I’ve never really had something like this happen before.”
Caelynn said in hindsight, she shouldn’t have tried to pick him up during the tiff, saying, “I definitely did the wrong thing by getting in the middle of that situation with the other dog, but I panicked and my adrenaline was going, so it was hard to think what is the right thing to do in this situation rather than just react, which is what I did.”
She continued, “It was just a weird situation. I still don’t really know what I should’ve done in that situation, but from what I’ve read and watched, you shouldn’t try to pick them up.”
Caelynn was able to get stitches from a plastic surgeon her mom got in contact with after she waited at the ER for five hours.
Thankfully, she’s okay and recognizes that the situation could’ve been a lot worse. However, Caelynn wants to make sure this never happens again with Alastor.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “We are going to take him to a trainer. I was in contact with one, so hopefully we can get him trained and this will never happen again. He does get snippy with some people, but he’s never bit anyone. I’m the first and I don’t want him to bite anyone else or any other dog. So I’ve been talking to a trainer.”
And as they start the training process, Caelynn welcomed any tips or advice from her followers who have been through something similar with their pet.
We’re wishing Caelynn a speedy recovery! Caelynn and Dean are incredible dog parents, so we hope their training journey with Alastor is successful.
