Joe Amabile, Natasha Parker & Tia Booth Discuss Scheduling Arguments with Your Partner
Ever thought about scheduling a fight with your significant other?
This week, “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” hosts Joe Amabile, Natasha Parker, and Tia Booth discussed the possibility of literally scheduling time for fights with your partner.
Natasha posed the question to the group, saying, “Some couples actually schedule time, like every Tuesday, to bring up what happened that week that you didn’t like or what you did like. Would you do that in your relationship?”
Joe, who’s engaged to fellow Bachelor Nation star Serena Pitt, said, “That’s probably the right thing to do. The mature way to go about an argument or a fight is to take your time, think about it, do what you have to do to calm yourself and then you go back and have the conversation about why you’re upset.”
But he said that in his relationship, “I’m more of an in-the-moment type of person and I feel like Serena is the same. Any argument that we have is probably going to be talked about in the moment.”
And since they both prefer to address issues when they happen, that works for them, but Tia opened up about how she and her boyfriend Taylor have different conflict resolution styles.

Tia said, “I think it could be productive to have a set time to go over things. Me and Taylor have different resolution styles. He wants to talk about it right away and get it over with and I want to take time to process, so it could be beneficial. We would have to agree on if we would want to have a later conversation.”
She added that since their relationship is still fairly new, they’re still working on navigating how to manage conflict.
Tia explained, “With Taylor specifically, it gets to a point where I’m shutting down because I am angry and I know I might say things I don’t mean and don’t want to say. And if he keeps coming at me, it gets to a point where it freaking blows up. Then we have to start over and make up because he gets mad if I said something mean. We’re still navigating that, to be completely honest. We’re still figuring out how we get past stuff when I need a second and he wants to talk about it now.”
And Natasha chimed in, saying that this is exactly why scheduling time to work out your fights can actually be helpful in relationships.
She said, “I never thought about it in that way, but if you do have opposite styles, that’s when it’s kind of necessary to have a time that you know you’re going to have a talk and bring up all the things you need to bring up. But you’ve both had time to think about it and now you’re coming with your thoughts and feelings. You don’t have to feel anxious and anticipate it because you know when it’s happening.”
