‘The Bachelor’s’ Sarah Discusses How Her Adoption Story Helped Shape Her into Who She Is Today
Fans are getting to know Bachelor Nation star Sarah on Clayton’s season of “The Bachelor.”
From receiving this week’s one-on-one date to winning the first group date, Sarah swept both Bachelor Nation and Clayton off his feet.
Now, she’s stopping by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, where she opened up more about her adoption story that she shared with Clayton on their date.
Sarah spoke candidly to co-hosts Becca Kufrin and Serena Pitt about why she decided to talk about her adoption.
Sarah said, “The reason I shared my adoption story is because it’s part of who I am and how I view family, children, relationships, and more. It was really important for me to share that. It was relevant because having been adopted and growing up in a family and community that didn’t look like me, made me feel isolated, ostracized, and not really seen or appreciated for who I was. And that’s a feeling that’s been consistent in my past relationships and just feeling unseen and not appreciated.”
She said that despite being uncomfortable during parts of their underwear one-on-one date, Sarah said that Clayton immediately made her feel both understood and seen.

Sarah explained, “When I did feel very heard and understood by Clayton, it was just that much more special because it was something that I had always been lacking. Especially after just a first date with him, it meant a lot that I felt safe being able to open up and share that with him. It’s often something that you don’t want to dump on someone when you first meet them because it’s a more personal thing. It meant a lot to me that I was able to share that with him.”
Becca thanked Sarah for sharing her story because she knows Sarah opening up will help a lot of other people who have experienced something similar.
Sarah said that it would mean so much to her to be able to help other people by talking about her experience.
She said, “If I can have that one moment of making a difference throughout this whole experience, that is really cool. I grew up not having someone to look to who had gone through it, so if people can watch it and see themselves in me, that’s all I could ask for.”
