Serena Pitt Takes Issue with ‘The Bachelor’s’ Mara Saying Some Women Are Too Young to Be Ready for Marriage
Serena Pitt is speaking up!
As Bachelor Nation fans know, Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile found love and got engaged on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise” this past summer.
Since then, the two have been spending time in each other’s hometowns, traveling together, and sharing their relationship with Bachelor Nation fans on social media.
And Serena hasn’t shied away from speaking up in the past about their 11-year age gap. She even went viral about this topic on TikTok for calling out trolls late last year.
Now, Serena is speaking out again, this time regarding comments made on Clayton Echard’s season of “The Bachelor.”
During their conversation on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, Serena and her co-host Becca Kufrin discussed Mara’s comments during this week’s episode.
They talked about how Mara is the only one at this point who hadn’t gotten a one-on-one date with Clayton.
Serena said, “I do feel like it’s hard to be in that position where you haven’t gotten a fair shot and you haven’t gotten that time, but I do think Mara needs to get a little tough love and hear that maybe Clayton just doesn’t feel it.”
But regardless of her connection with Clayton, Serena took issue with Mara taking digs at the other women, specifically about their age.

Serena said, “I really have an issue with her fixating so much on the age of these women. Maybe that’s because I was always the youngest. I was the youngest on ‘Paradise’ and I was one of the youngest on my season. She seems to be really obsessed with these younger women and how they can’t be ready for an engagement or marriage and she is because she’s 33 and Sarah’s not because she’s 23.”
Becca chimed in, saying, “You raise a good point. As I was watching, I noticed she was calling out Sarah’s age and I was sitting there thinking about how you were that age when you went on the show and ‘Paradise’ and now you are in love and engaged. You can’t just fixate on that one thing. Everyone’s story and relationship will be different.”
Serena said she wished Mara didn’t judge people’s readiness for engagement based on one thing, like their age.
The Bachelor Nation star got candid, saying, “It was frustrating for me for sure. I just don’t think that it’s fair for her to be comparing her connection to the other women. If you have a connection, you have a connection, and at this point, you hope that all the women there are open to an engagement. We’re down to the wire now.”
Serena continued on with her point, saying, “People really like to equate age to maturity and readiness, but Shanae is in her late 20s and she was the one causing all the drama this season. Mara, you’re the oldest one in the house at this point, yet you’re going and sabotaging other women’s relationships. So it’s not necessarily that the youngest women in the house are the ones that are causing the drama and acting immaturely.”
