Sarah Herron Shares ‘Disappointing’ IVF Journey Update, Plus: What Not to Say to Someone Struggling to Conceive
Bachelor Nation first met Sarah Herron on Season 17 of “The Bachelor.” Sarah also hit the beaches of “Bachelor in Paradise” on Seasons 1 and 3 in hopes of finding love.
While she ended up finding love and getting engaged off-screen to her fiancé Dylan Brown, Sarah has kept Bachelor Nation fans up with her life on social media over the years.
Sarah has been extremely open with fans about important topics like fertility, egg freezing, limb differences, and mental health.
And throughout the past couple years, Sarah has been particularly open about her and Dylan’s egg freezing, fertilization, and embryo transfer process.
After an unsuccessful embryo transfer late last year, Sarah shared that she was going through the egg retrieval process again.
And Sarah recently took to Instagram to share an update on their latest egg retrieval.
The Bachelor Nation star wrote, “Unfortunately our latest egg retrieval didn’t produce viable embryos for us. Of course, we are so disappointed and confused, but we remain optimistic to try again. Of the 3 embryos we received from this egg retrieval, 2 tested positive for cystic fibrosis and 1 came back aneuploid — meaning chromosomally abnormal.”

She shared that she and her fiancé are going to try something new during her next cycle called “an intraovarian platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection,” which Sarah says has been found to improve ovarian function in women with a poor ovarian response.
Sarah shared the emotional toll this news took on her and Dylan, saying, “Make no mistake, @dylan.h.brown and I are disappointed beyond words. We are exhausted, BUT, we’re feeling resilient and will keep working towards this goal for as long as our resources and spirits can keep at it. Even though we’re doing everything possible, and we have the best doctor in the world (yeah, I said it @eggwhisperer), biology is still biology and there’s only so much we can control.”
She concluded her post, “We’ll keep working, and I’ll keep sharing because it’s been a privilege to be on this journey with all of you! Thanks for being here for us. Onward!”
Many of Sarah’s fellow Bachelor Nation stars and fans flooded the comments of her post thanking her for sharing her journey so honestly and openly.
And since sharing the news about her latest egg retrieval, Sarah also offered some advice on what not to say to someone you know who may be struggling to conceive or has experienced pregnancy loss.
Sarah wrote, “Even with the best of intentions, there are some things better left unsaid to someone struggling to conceive or has experienced pregnancy loss. I asked all of you to tell me the things people have tried telling you during your fertility journey that just didn’t help hearing, and these were the most common responses. I teamed up with one of my favorite Instagram accounts to create these playful graphics. Use these as a gentle nudge (or reminder) of what not to say to your friend going through infertility.”
The graphics and Sarah’s entire post are below. She said to feel free to share it and tag her in your posts.
