Bachelor Nation: Jill, thank you so much for chatting with us about the importance of AAPI Heritage Month! What does Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month mean to you?
Jill Chin: For me, AAPI Heritage Month is a time to educate people on the complex history of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the U.S., and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of fellow AAPI.

BN: Absolutely. What makes you proud to be a member of the AAPI community?
JC: I am so proud of my grandfather (Yeye) for immigrating to the U.S., serving in WWII to fight for our country and the freedom he was seeking, raising a family of 11 children, and truly exemplifying the American Dream.
BN: That’s incredible. Were there any prominent AAPI leaders or mentors who inspired you while growing up?
JC: Michelle Kwan was someone who I always looked up to. Being able to see an Asian American represent the U.S. on the Olympic stage really inspired me to follow my dreams.

BN: Love that, Michelle Kwan is amazing! And what does it mean for you to now be someone that other AAPI people may look up to?
JC: It is such an honor to be able to represent the Asian community and show young women and girls that they are beautiful, strong, and worthy of love and respect.
BN: Yes, that’s so special. Lastly, what are some things Bachelor Nation fans can be doing to support the AAPI community, both this month and beyond?
JC: Support your local Asian-run businesses, learn about Asian history, and engage with AAPI friends to gain a deeper insight on their lives and their culture!
BN: Absolutely to all of that, thank you so much, Jill!
