Serene Russell Reveals She’s Stepping Back from Teaching: ‘My Kids Will Always Have a Special Corner in My Heart’
Serene Russell is closing the chapter on teaching.
Serene was introduced to Bachelor Nation fans as an elementary school teacher from Oklahoma City, and she and Clayton Echard talked about her career on Season 26 of “The Bachelor.”
And while Serene has loved her career as a teacher, she’s moving on to work that’s more in line with her degree.
The Bachelor Nation star took to Instagram to share the news alongside a series of photos from her time as a teacher.

Serene wrote, “My teaching career started in 2020. I graduated with a mass communications degree in broadcast media, however, all the stars aligned and led me to an opportunity at the elementary school I attended as a child. My journey in education was never one I expected.”
And while she didn’t originally set out to be a teacher, Serene said, “I’ve been SO blessed to work in the community I grew up in. Becoming a teacher at the school that raised me was the most incredible and eye-opening experience.”
And Serene continued, sharing why she has decided to close her chapter as a teacher.
She said, “At this time in my life I am deciding to leave education to pursue a job in my degree field. I’ve always been so passionate about media / storytelling and am BEYOND excited to give that part of me a chance!”

Serene concluded her post with a special message to her school and students, saying, “My school and kids will always have a special corner in my heart. The OKC kids get it. Here’s to the future!”
