Michelle Young & Nayte Olukoya Address the Pressure That Comes with Finding Love on ‘The Bachelorette’
Getting candid.
Michelle Young and Nayte Olukoya famously found love and got engaged on Season 18 of “The Bachelorette.”
Now, the two have been navigating their lives as an engaged couple in the public eye and have been honest about the pros and cons of finding love in front of millions of people.
Nayte joined Michelle on this week’s episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, where the two addressed the pressure that comes with finding love on “The Bachelorette” and how they handle online rumors.
Nayte started off by saying, “The pressure sucks. But for me and you, we talk it through. At the same time, this was your second time around. At the beginning, I really felt the pressure. How I was dealing with things six months ago compared to how I deal with things now is night and day. The pressures of six months ago were nuts.”

The Bachelor Nation star went on, saying, “Now, if I go paddleboarding and there’s a picture of me with a girl that’s one of my best friends on Reddit and people are saying I’m cheating on you, it doesn’t bother me. Just the other day, there was a picture of me with my best friend and old roommate’s girlfriend of 14 years, and people were saying that I was cheating on Michelle. I was like, ‘That’s my best friend’s girlfriend of 14 years!’ So the pressures of people talking about every move you make, now I just think it’s funny and I don’t really read too deep into it. But if we had this conversation six months ago, I would say it’s nuts.”
Nayte said he would cope with feeling overwhelmed by the pressure by calling Michelle, Rodney, or his mom 12 times a day to vent.
And he was grateful that Michelle had previously been on “The Bachelor” and knew how the pressure felt.
Nayte shared, “It’s nice that it was your second time on the show because if it was both of our first time, we would’ve dealt with it a lot differently. You’ve already been through it before, so it’s nice to be engaged to someone who already knew how to navigate this world and let me know that those 2% of negative people always seem the loudest.”
And just this past weekend, Michelle took to her Instagram Stories to address a situation she was getting “so many messages about.”

The former Bachelorette said she typically doesn’t address these types of things, but someone took a video of her without her consent on a rooftop this weekend when she wasn’t wearing her engagement ring for a few seconds.
Michelle candidly said, “To the person who was paying close enough attention to catch that moment, you also had to be paying close enough attention to see one of my good friends briefly remove my engagement ring to try it on and then place it back on my finger.”
She ended her video saying, “Just a friendly reminder that Nayte and I are human beings, not a zoo exhibit. Not to mention videoing someone without them knowing is creepy. It’s not cool.”
Michelle is always coming through with the words of wisdom!
Michelle and Nayte couldn’t be happier together, and we know this is still only just the beginning for them!
