Celebrating Father’s Day!
Fans first met Bachelor Nation star Kenny King Layne on Season 13 of “The Bachelorette,” and he returned to our screens for Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
While on “The Bachelorette,” Kenny introduced fans to his daughter Makenzi.
Now, Kenny is stopping by to chat with BachelorNation.com exclusively about Father’s Day and what it means to him to be a dad.
Check out Kenny’s full interview below!
Bachelor Nation: Happy Father’s Day, Kenny! We wanted to start off by asking what being a dad means to you.
Kenny Layne: Being a dad has meant everything to me. It has meant happiness, learning patience, making sacrifice, and unconditional love. There hasn’t been anything in my life that has contributed to becoming a more complete person more than being a father.

BN: That’s so special. What is your ideal way to celebrate Father’s Day?
KL: Spending it with Makenzi; doesn’t matter what we do.
BN: How sweet! And how would you say fatherhood changed you?
KL: Fatherhood has helped me become a more complete person. When you love someone more than you can imagine, it no longer is about you and what you want to do. Your child becomes the focal point of your every move.
BN: So true and so beautiful. What has surprised you most about fatherhood?
KL: It’s a selfless gig. Moms are very high on the totem pole (and rightfully so). Dads… a little further down.
BN: And do you have any advice for fellow parents out there?
KL: Enjoy the different phases that your kids go through; they won’t be there for long.

BN: Absolutely, they grow up so fast. How would you say Makenzi would describe you?
KL: I’m a lot of different things. I’m goofy, I love to have fun, I try to be a source of knowledge and a place to bring ideas. But I also don’t play, so we maintain a nice healthy balance.
BN: She’s lucky to have you! What is your favorite part of being a dad?
KL: Being a dad is just amazing. Having a little girl, I was a real-life superhero for quite a few years. I fixed bikes, checked the closet for monsters, I was the man. She’s older now, so I’m not as cool as I used to be.
BN: She definitely still thinks you’re cool! As a dad, what do you hope Makenzi learns from you?
KL: I hope she learns how to navigate the world while still keeping her core self intact, and how to love hard.

BN: That’s a great lesson. And lastly, do you have a proudest moment as a dad?
KL: My proudest moments are when I realize what a kind-hearted, intelligent, talented, beautiful young woman that she is becoming.
BN: Incredible. Thank you for chatting with us, Kenny. Happy Father’s Day!
