Mike Johnson & Bryan Abasolo Discuss the Trend of Getting Engaged at Someone Else’s Wedding
Cute or cringe?!
This week on the “Talking It Out with Bachelor Nation” podcast, co-hosts Mike Johnson and Bryan Abasolo discuss a controversial trend — proposing at someone else’s wedding.
Mike started the conversation by asking Bryan what he thinks of this trend and what he would’ve thought about someone proposing at him and his wife Rachel Lindsay’s wedding.
Bryan didn’t hold back, saying, “If a friend of mine got engaged at my wedding, that’s a 1000% no for me. It’s my day. I’d be more scared about what Rachel would’ve said. Don’t worry about me — worry about Rachel! That is just disrespectful! Why? Do it on your own time. Do it in front of your family and friends. Don’t give me this ‘We were just in the atmosphere of love.’ Get the f*ck out of here.”
He went on, adding, “Do not do that at my wedding. I’m sorry, I think that’s disrespectful. Even if I put myself in a neutral position, and let’s say I saw this happen at your wedding, the secondhand embarrassment I would feel for those two would be astronomical. I think there would be a mixed reaction.”
And Mike completely agreed with his co-host.

He isn’t married, but when thinking about his future wedding, he doesn’t want anyone else proposing on his special day.
Mike said, “Nobody better not ever get on a knee at my wedding. It’s a no for me, dog. Who would do that?! The audacity it would take to do that! I’m gonna think you’re being cheap, so I’m gonna call you out on that. There’s no getting caught up in the moment. You’re being cheap. You wanted to use our flowers and our backdrop. You ain’t using my backdrop for your photos. We ain’t having it.”
The Bachelor Nation star also said that his family and friends would stop a proposal from happening on his wedding day.
Mike said, “My guests would put an end to that really quickly. My mama would be like, ‘No, you didn’t.’ How dare you ask my wedding photographer to take your engagement photos?! I don’t care if you’re my best friend, it’s not happening. I would mess it up for them.”
