Brandon Jones Opens Up About the Stresses of Split Week on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’

Bachelor Nation fans met Brandon Jones on Season 18 of “The Bachelorette,” and now his love story with Serene Russell is unfolding on Season 8 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Brandon stopped by the “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast, where he discussed all things “Paradise” and dished on the stresses of split week.
The Bachelor Nation star opened up to the “Click Bait” co-hosts about how the “Paradise” twist impacted his relationship with Serene.
He said, “It definitely made our relationship stronger, but it also put a huge halt on our relationship. I knew I wasn’t going to do anything and she knew she wasn’t going to do anything. But some behind-the-scenes stuff that you didn’t see was when the girls were having a mental breakdown leaving the beach, I actually ran up to the van. I hugged Serene and kissed her and told her everything is gonna be okay and that I was going to be there waiting for her until she gets back.”

Brandon went on, saying, “I think that was a huge relief, but the split put a halt on our relationship. We were progressing and we knew we wanted to be together, but you only have so much time together in ‘Paradise’ before engagements and this was a whole week apart. Each day felt like a year and I was losing it. She was my go-to if I was feeling some type of way; she would always make me feel better.”
Brandon discussed how being apart was their first “real world” challenge to overcome and it eventually took a toll on him.
He said, “I was so sick of every single day seeing someone get hurt. That took a lot out of me. I felt like I was going to be next, and I was going to be the next one. My experience on ‘The Bachelorette’ definitely made that fear worse. It’s something I’ve moved on from, but that fear is always going to be there.”

Thankfully the two made it through the split week and had a really special reunion when Serene returned to the beach.
