Emily Maynard Johnson Opens Up About Welcoming Baby #6, Who Was Born with Down Syndrome
Bachelor Nation fan favorite Emily Maynard Johnson first appeared on Season 15 of “The Bachelor” and eventually went on to be the Season 8 Bachelorette.
Emily found her happily ever after with her husband of seven years, Tyler Johnson, after her time on the show. The two had met at church prior to her being the Bachelorette, and they eventually reconnected.
The couple got married in 2014 and Emily just took to Instagram to reveal that they welcomed their sixth child into their family.
Alongside photos of their adorable family, Emily wrote, “SURPRISE! On August 31st, Tyler and I welcomed our sweet son, Jones West Johnson, into the world. During my surgery we learned that he was born with Down Syndrome, and while it was certainly a surprise, we have so much peace in God’s perfect plan and know Jones is going to be a blessing to our family.”
The mom went on, saying, “He was in the NICU for a little over a month and is thankfully now home in all the chaos and we couldn’t love him more. Thank you to everyone at @levinechildrens for all that you did for our family. I’m so happy to finally share the news and can share all the pictures with you guys! He’s absolutely the cherry on top!”

Emily also spoke to People and said, “I am so grateful. But I’m still on my journey of processing everything. And I have to trust that it will all turn out all right.”
She also discussed her son’s time in the NICU, revealing that in addition to Down syndrome, Jones was born with a rare congenital colon abnormality that required surgery.
Thankfully, Jones is home now and their entire family of eight is together!
Many of Emily’s fellow Bachelor Nation stars took to the comments of her post to share their congrats and well wishes for her family.
Sarah Herron wrote, “Oh Emily congratulations!!! What a blessing! We can’t wait to meet Jones!”
Becca Tilley chimed in, saying, “He is so precious! Your entire family is so beautiful! So happy for y’all!”
Jade Roper Tolbert added, “Congrats, Emily! And welcome to the world, sweet little Jones!”
And Raven Gates Gottschalk said, “Congrats on your sweet baby!! He is such a blessing already!”
