EXCLUSIVE: Ben & Jessica Higgins Share Their Favorite Family Holiday Traditions!
Celebrate the holidays with Bachelor Nation!
As Bachelor Nation fans know, former Bachelor Ben Higgins married the love of his life, Jessica Clarke Higgins, in November 2021.
Since then, the two have traveled, moved in together, and even adopted a pup, Waylon.
Now, the Bachelor Nation couple is sitting down exclusively with BachelorNation.com to share their favorite family holiday traditions — including a tradition they hope their future kids carry on.
Check out their full interview below!
Bachelor Nation: We hope you two are having a great holiday season so far! What are some special holiday traditions you do with your family each year?
Ben Higgins: Over the last few years, we have done Christmas with both Jessica’s family and my family in a warm location! It has typically been in Sanibel, but with the recent hurricanes, we are going to try somewhere new this year. Warm Christmas has been a great tradition since we live in Colorado!

BN: That sounds so nice! Do you have a favorite tradition?
BH: Since Jessica and I started dating, we watch as many Christmas movies as possible between Thanksgiving and Christmas! I bet we get at least 20 movies watched in the month. This puts us in the Christmas spirit and also helps us stay up past 9:30 p.m.
BN: Love that! We’re going to need your list of movies. Is there one tradition you hope your kids/future kids carry on with their families one day?
Jessica Higgins: We hope our kids create a space for a ton of joy during the holidays. Keep it light and easy without expectations but still have those memorable moments that will last a lifetime. Ever since we were young, one of our parents or grandparents used to say a special Christmas prayer to kick off the festivities... We would like that to be passed down.

BN: That sounds really sweet. Do you have any tips for maximizing your time with your families during the holidays?
BH: Put the phone away and just be where your feet are. We were given advice a few years ago to try and be where your feet are at all times if possible. This allows you to be intentional, focused, and engaged in what is happening around you!
BN: What great advice! What are you most excited about this holiday season?
BH: We are excited to be with family, to soak up the sun, and to just enjoy the time of rest. This is one of the only times of the year where it feels like everyone is distracted and not working, so we want to do the same!
BN: Absolutely. Do you two have any New Year’s resolutions?
JH: To be where our feet are more often, especially in our times at home together. Ben travels a ton and as a result we want to make our time home together extra special.

BN: What a great resolution. And last but not least, do you have a favorite holiday recipe to make?
BH: Yes! Here’s our favorite cannoli recipe!
Ingredients:
Cannoli shells, homemade or store bought will work
Ricotta cheese
Confectioners’ sugar
Mini chocolate chips
Vanilla extract
Place the ricotta cheese into a fine mesh strainer and place it in the fridge to drain for at least 12 hours and up to 24 hours.
When you’re ready to make the filling:
In a large bowl, combine the drained ricotta cheese, confectioners’ sugar, 1/4 cup of the mini chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and orange zest (if using); mix well. Using a spatula, carefully scrape the mixture into pastry bag fitted with a 1/2-inch open tip. Use at once or refrigerate until needed; filling can be made up to 24 hours in advance.
When ready to serve, pipe the filling into one end of cannoli shell, filling shell halfway, then pipe into the other end. If you don’t have a piping bag, you may spoon the filling into the shells. Repeat with remaining shells.
Place remaining mini chocolate chips on a small plate. Dip each end of the cannoli into the chocolate chips, then lightly dust with confectioners’ sugar. Serve at once. (credit baker by nature)
