Bachelor Nation: Happy holidays! What are some special holiday traditions you do with your family each year?
Jared Haibon: Going over to my cousins’ every year for Christmas Eve and doing our annual Yankee Swap! Of course, having our family dinner on Christmas Day. I also LOVE watching my favorite Christmas movies. I have to watch Jim Carrey’s “The Grinch,” “Christmas Vacation,” “Elf,” and “A Christmas Story” when it’s airing 24/7 on TNT during Christmas Day.
BN: We love a good Christmas movie! Do you have a favorite tradition?
JH: We try to go to a tree lighting in Rhode Island every year. Each town has one. My favorite is in a town called Wickford. They have carolers, hot chocolate, live music. It’s always a lot of fun!
BN: That sounds so sweet! Are there any new traditions you’d like to incorporate this year?
JH: Now with Dawson, I would love to set a new tradition of having one full day dedicated to getting a tree, decorating it, make cookies and drinking hot chocolate, and watching Christmas movies. You know, just really living out a Hallmark movie.
BN: Yes, it must be so magical to experience it all for the first time again through his eyes! Is there one tradition you hope your kids carry on with their families one day?

JH: I hope they carry on the tradition of making it a point to see family during the holidays. I loved having a close family and I really hope Dawson has the same type of family dynamic I had growing up. There was a lot of love in my family and there still is. I’m very lucky.
BN: Absolutely. Do you have any tips for maximizing your time with your families during the holidays?
JH: For me, I’m starting to realize that there is always something that needs to be done. Whether it be work, around the house, or running errands, life is extremely busy. It’s up to you and you alone to ensure you are making time for your family. Even if you feel like you don’t have time, you have to make time because there will always be something that needs to get done. Realizing that you can get it done later to spend time with your family now has helped me prioritize.
BN: That’s some really great advice. Do you have a favorite holiday food or drink?
JH: Oh yes! A little eggnog spiked with RumChata is always a good time.
BN: Yum! What are you most excited about this holiday season?
JH: Spending our first Christmas with Dawson!
BN: So exciting! And last but not least, Do you have any New Year’s resolutions for 2023?
JH: In 2022, Ashley and I moved twice, opened a business, and had a baby, all within seven months. It was a lot. My New Year’s resolution is to ensure we spend quality family time together and enjoy the little moments more.
BN: Love that. We hope 2023 is filled with love and quality family time!
