Sean Lowe Shares the Advice He Gave Zach Shallcross on ‘The Bachelor’ and Dishes on Their Friendship
From one Bachelor to another!
Sean Lowe stole the hearts of Bachelor Nation on his season of “The Bachelor” back in 2013.
Now, 10 years later, he’s back on our screens, and this time he’s sharing some advice with current Bachelor Zach Shallcross.
And ahead of Sean’s appearance this season, he stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” to discuss his friendship with Zach.
Co-hosts Becca Kufrin and Michelle Young asked Sean what advice he gave to Zach.
Sean said, “When I met with Zach, it was a lot of, ‘This is about to be crazy, and you think you are prepared, but you really don’t know what you’re walking into.’ I told him that it will be so surreal and nuts, and the hardest part will probably be after the cameras stop rolling and the press starts. It’s a whirlwind. I wanted to really prepare him mentally for all of that, and I wanted to be realistic with him.”

The former Bachelor went on, saying, “I know we’re filming a TV show and the goal is to find love, but I also wanted to tell him that it’s okay if that doesn’t happen. There’s a chance that you meet 25 wonderful women and one of them might not be a match for you. That’s okay to walk away from all of this and give it a try, but it doesn’t work out.”
Sean shared that he really wanted Zach to try to have fun and enjoy the ride.
“I wanted Zach to know to not make this harder than it needs to be. If you can just relax and have fun with it, it’s an amazing opportunity to travel the world and do things you would never do otherwise. It’s so much fun, so just enjoy every moment of it,” Sean explained.
Sean also discussed his friendship with Zach and how he seemed when he met with him on set.

The former Bachelor said, “If I had to sum it up, he was more nervous than anxious, which I think most people would be with not knowing what’s in store for you over the coming weeks. I am not really there to give advice. How many times have they brought the old guy out of retirement to give advice to new Bachelors? It makes me feel very old! More than anything, I wasn’t there to give advice, but I wanted him to know that he had a buddy in me. If you need me, reach out.”
Sean continued on, sharing that the two kept in touch throughout the season, saying, “We did FaceTime a couple times throughout the season because I wanted to make sure that he was doing well. Mentally it can definitely take a toll on you. When you’re the lead, you really don’t have a lot of friends around. When you’re one of 25 guys on ‘The Bachelorette,’ you can make friends and talk to them when you’re not filming. You really don’t have that luxury as the lead outside of producers. So I wanted Zach to know that very few people have gone through this, but I have, so if you need me I’m here for you.”
We love their bromance and can’t wait to see more on-screen on Zach’s season of “The Bachelor,” which premieres on Monday, January 23, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
