Ashley Hebert Discusses Facing ‘Mind-Blowing’ Hate from Men Online After Announcing Her Divorce
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Ashley Hebert on Season 15 of “The Bachelor,” and she went on to be the Bachelorette for Season 7.
Ashley famously found love and got engaged to J.P. Rosenbaum on her season of “The Bachelorette,” and the two tied the knot on TV in 2012.
In October 2020, the couple announced their decision to split following a monthslong separation.
Ashley and J.P. share two children together, Ford and Essie, and they’ve been focused on co-parenting since their divorce.
Now, Ashley just stopped by the “Almost Famous OGs” podcast and opened up about the hate she received after she and J.P. went public with their split.

Ashley said, “The amount of hate I got on my social media from men was mind-blowing. That’s something that was like, ‘Wow.’ We didn’t cheat. There was no infidelity. I truly feel like we handled the divorce the best we could and probably anyone could… so it was really hard to read all those messages.”
The former Bachelorette revealed to co-hosts Bob Guiney and Trista Sutter that when she reached out to J.P. to ask if he was also receiving negative messages, and he said he didn’t have the same experience.
Ashley revealed, “I remember telling him I was getting these hateful messages… and I asked him if he got them too, and he said nope. It was really interesting to me. All the hate was coming at me. People were saying I separated our family and like I was the one that did it. I am really not sure why, if I’m being honest.”

Ashley also discussed their divorce and how she was so worried about letting people down and prioritized that over what she might have wanted for a while.
She said, “Being in the public eye didn’t keep us together, but it also didn’t tear us apart. It did put pressure on us to stay private about everything until we were certain. It does in a way put some pressure to try as much as you can to make it work.”
Ashley went on, adding, “I don’t know if J.P. feels that way, but I certainly felt like I wanted to make sure we were making the right decision for our kids, and also subconsciously, I felt like I was going to be letting people down. I am a people pleaser.”
