Susie Evans Discusses Recent First Date, Calling It ‘One of the Best First Dates Ever’
Is love in the air?!
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Susie Evans on Season 26 of “The Bachelor,” and the fan favorite recently moved to Los Angeles.
Susie and former Bachelor Clayton Echard split last October, and now Susie is sharing the details of her first date since their breakup.
The Bachelor Nation star took to TikTok to open up about her date and why it was one of the best first dates she’s ever been on.
Susie started off the video by saying, “I went on a first date the other day and I feel like I actually killed it on my makeup and it was a brunch date, which can be kind of intimidating because the sun is out and you’re like ‘Omg, you’re literally going to be able to see everything on my face.’”
She went on, saying, “I also wore my hair natural on the date. Honestly, I used to only straighten or smooth my hair out for dates because I was really self-conscious. But I was like, if you’re gonna date me, you should know.”
And then, the Bachelor Nation star got into why this first date felt so special.
Susie said, “It really felt so low-stakes with this first date, but it ended up being maybe the best or one of the best first dates I’ve ever been on. The only thing is that he doesn’t live here in L.A. and I almost didn’t go for that reason. I was like, ‘How serious are you?’ Honestly, we hit it off. It was my first official date since being out of a relationship last September.”
She shared why it’s been hard for her to date since then, saying, “I just feel like people want to chat on the apps and I don’t have the patience to go back and forth a bunch of times. This guy literally matched with me and was like, ‘Let’s meet right now.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, crazy, no, but we can do brunch.’ It was kind of what I was waiting for this whole time. I just want someone to ask me out. I don’t want to chitchat on the apps. I felt like I owed it to him because I had literally been asking God for this, for someone to just be like, ‘Hey, let’s meet up.’ And finally somebody did.”
Susie talked about why she knew she and her date were a good match right away.
She said, “I knew the vibe was good immediately because we both made a gross joke about going to Taco Bell instead and the waitress didn’t think it was funny, but we did. We were both doing weird accents and just got so weird, and I haven’t felt like I could be myself with somebody that quickly in a long time.”

And whether or not this connection works out, Susie said she knows what she’s looking for in a partner and knows she has to put in the work too.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “I just want my person to show up and be there and be ready to start a life, but I know that’s not how dating works. All good things in life like dating and relationships take effort. Ultimately, I know I have to put in the work to meet a great guy. Also, there’s a big part of me that’s just skeptical about men.”
Susie continued, saying, “I feel like I don’t believe any of them actually want relationships, then I imagine sometimes I probably give off the same vibe. I also wouldn’t mind meeting somebody through a friend because then they’re pre-vetted. Here’s to hoping my date doesn’t have TikTok. He’s not a big social media guy, so I don’t think so.”
