Chris Bukowski & Anna Redman Discuss Hard Launching Their Relationship: ‘Most People’s Reaction Was WTF’
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation stars Anna Redman and Chris Bukowski hard launched their relationship on social media last year.
Fans first met Anna on Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” and she later appeared on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” And Chris appeared on Season 8 of “The Bachelorette,” Season 3 of “Bachelor Pad,” and Seasons 1, 2, and 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
While these two have both been on multiple Bachelor Nation shows, they actually found love off-screen and currently live together in Chicago, Illinois.
Now, the couple is stopping by the “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast to discuss going public with their relationship.
Joe asked how they decided it was time to share their romance with the world and Bachelor Nation fans.
Anna shared that she posted first, saying, “We were in Costa Rica for a wedding, and we were sitting there with all of his friends and we were a couple of margaritas deep. They were like, ‘Why aren’t you two public? Are you trying to hide him or are you going to dump him? What’s going on?!’ They were kind of roasting me, so I was like, ‘Fine, I’ll post him!’ I think we always had in mind that we’d share our relationship from Costa Rica, but his friends definitely lit the fire under my butt at least.”
Chris added that he followed suit and shared photos with Anna on Instagram “shoving a quesadilla in her mouth.”
Joe asked what fans’ reaction was like and Anna said, “I think at first, most people’s reaction was ‘What the f*ck?!’”
The “Click Bait” host chimed in, saying, “It’s not totally what the f*ck, though. Like, yes, there’s an age gap. Serena and I also have an age gap, and so do a ton of people in this world, so it’s not insane. And you both live in Chicago, so it’s not crazy.”
Anna agreed but added that most people still found their relationship shocking at the beginning.
She said, “It makes sense when you know those things, but most people didn’t. I also think people think it’s less common than it is for people to date within the Bachelor Nation franchise. A lot of people do, just most people don’t last as long and don’t go public. From an outsider’s perspective, people were a little shocked.”
Chris shared that he enjoyed their few months together “under the radar” when their relationship was private.
Anna said, “Yeah, me too, except people started posting photos of us like at Walgreens getting toilet paper or something and then we felt like we didn’t have control over our own narrative. Once you’re off the show, that’s all you want, you want to control your own life.”
Joe asked how they took fans’ reaction to their relationship once it was out there on social media.
Chris said, “All the opinions come out and you’re like, ‘Oh, jeez, okay, here we go. It’s hard when your family sees those comments and there’s all these opinions and that becomes an extra hurdle in your relationship, especially that early on. We had to figure out how to navigate it when all the BS started coming to the surface from all the chatter on social media. We had to figure out how to block it out and focus on what we’d been enjoying for the previous four or five months.”
Anna explained that they kept their relationship private at first because they didn’t want to deal with any criticism.
She said, “That’s also why we held off from posting about it for four months. We wanted to post because we wanted to celebrate being together. We’re not technically posting for people to commentate, but they do anyway.”
But now, she said Bachelor Nation fans have fully embraced them as a couple.
Anna shared, “It’s funny. Now, I post a lot and not every post is gonna be him. I won’t post Chris for like a week or something and people are like, ‘Where is he? Are you guys broken up?!’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, my goodness, no, but he’s just not posing for photos 24/7.’”
