This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Chris Proposes to Desiree on ‘The Bachelorette’ Finale
She said yes!
Bachelor Nation fans are currently watching Charity Lawson’s love story unfold on “The Bachelorette,” and here on BachelorNation.com, we’re also looking back on some of the most iconic “Bachelorette” moments.
This week in Bachelor Nation history, Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock got engaged to Chris Siegfried!
Fans first met Desiree on Season 17 of “The Bachelor.” While things didn’t work out between Desiree and Sean Lowe, Des went on to be the Season 9 Bachelorette.
Throughout the ups and downs of her journey as the Bachelorette, Chris Siegfried continued to show up for Des regardless of what happened with the other men.
And while one of her frontrunners, Brooks, ended up unexpectedly leaving the show, Desiree always knew Chris was her first choice.
She eventually gave Chris her final rose and got emotional as she spoke to him on the last day of her journey.
During the final episode, Desiree told Chris, “The one thing I needed has always been right in front of me. You’ve always been by my side from the very beginning. You never lost sight of what we could be, and for that I am so grateful. I thank you every day for never giving up, and you mean the absolute world to me. I love you. I love you so much.”
After Desiree’s romantic speech, Chris got down on one knee and proposed.
He said, “I have something to say and I’m confident in saying this 100% and I’m not just saying it to say it, it’s not just a yes or a no. This is a do you want to grow old together, do you want to share new experiences with me, can I share mine with you, do you want to start a family together, so Desiree, I want to be your first and I want to be your last. Will you marry me?”
She said, “Yes, a thousand times!”
The two got married January 18, 2015, at the stunning Wayfarers Chapel atop the rocky cliffs of Rancho Palos Verdes.
The fan-favorite couple now share two children together, Asher Wrigley and Zander Cruz.
