EXCLUSIVE: Zach Shallcross & Kaity Biggar Discuss Going Back to ‘Normal’ Lives and Jobs Post-‘Bachelor’
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar find love and get engaged on Season 27 of “The Bachelor.”
The two have since moved in together in Austin, Texas, and are enjoying their lives as a happily engaged couple.
Now, the lovebirds stopped by for an exclusive chat with BachelorNation.com and opened up about their next chapter together, going back to their full-time jobs post-show, and whether they’re wedding planning.
Check out the full interview below!
Bachelor Nation: So great to see you both! We love keeping up with you two on social media since your time on the show. What’s next for Zach and Kaity?!
Zach Shallcross: Hi, Bachelor Nation family! Yeah, so, we’re renting in Austin right now. We’ve had our own place together since July. We’re looking to get into a new apartment next year for a year, but during that time, we’re saving up and will hopefully buy a house by the end of next year.
Kaity Biggar: We’re trying to set up financial goals that will help us with buying a house and that will be our next chapter together. We want to be in the Austin area. We’re open to some outskirts, but not too far in the outskirts.
ZS: There are so many options of things to do in Austin. We love it there. It’s so fun. For the next five years at least, we’ll be there. That’s where we see ourselves planting roots. Our foundation home will be there.
BN: How exciting! Many Bachelor Nation fans love how you two went back to your normal lives after the show. What are you both doing for work right now?
ZS: Yes, we both still work full time! I work for a mental health platform. I do software-type sales. I started this job in July, so it’s been very busy. I’m fully remote, but it’s a startup so it’s all so exciting.
KB: My specialty is emergency nursing, but I just got a new job on a medicine oncology floor. It definitely has its own challenges to it as opposed to emergency nursing, but I’m happy. My end goal is cosmetic nursing, so that’s the specialty I’m hoping to get into. It’s only a matter of time! I have some exciting opportunities coming up with a cool company called Clinic Concierge.
BN: Congrats to you both on these exciting new job opportunities! I have to ask: Are there wedding bells ringing in the near future?
ZS: We’ve thought about it and talked about it. That’s not our priority right now. Getting a house, starting our future, and still building our relationship are our priorities. This is our first time to just take things at the pace we want to instead of having a deadline. It will be later down the road. We’re not rushed. When the time is right, the time is right.
KB: Yeah, we’re just doing things at our own pace and doing what we want to do. We are just living our normal lives and having a very normal relationship!
BN: Love that! Have you learned anything new about each other since moving in together six months ago?
KB: I have realized how organized Zach is! Out of the two of us, I am the more disorganized/last-minute kind of girl and he’s very on it. And Zach is such a clean boy, he’s great. We only had one toilet seat issue where he would leave the seat up, but we solved that!
BN: And you just celebrated your one-year anniversary! Did you do anything special?
KB: Yes, we just celebrated our one-year anniversary! We went to a nice dinner to celebrate and got each other sweet gifts. I got Zach this book called “Love Book” and I made a story of us and it had some of the reasons why I love him so much. It was little cartoons of us, I made the cartoons look like us. I put some of our inside jokes in there too. He loved it!
ZS: It was amazing! I really, really loved it. I got her a picture of us at our engagement in Thailand looking off into the ocean. I also got her some flowers and candles, the whole shebang!
BN: Aww, you two are too cute! Thank you so much for catching up with us. We’ll talk again soon!
