Jess Girod Reveals Why She Looked for Love on Bachelor Nation Shows and the ‘Sign’ from the Universe
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Jess Girod look for love on Season 27 of “The Bachelor” and she returned to our screens for Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Now, the fan favorite is opening up about what brought her to reality TV and why she decided to look for her forever person on the Bachelor Nation shows.
Jess took to TikTok to share what led her to the shows and how getting cast felt like a sign from the universe.
Jess started off her video by saying, “Back in 2022, I was going through a really tough breakup. I really didn’t have one bad thing to say about him. It was the first breakup I went through where I wasn’t getting cheated on. The reason for breaking up was just because we weren’t good for each other. That was something that I just didn’t comprehend for the longest time. It’s so much easier to hate someone and move on quicker because you have so much anger pent up. I just had a really hard time navigating what that was like.”
She continued on, sharing how she got nominated for “The Bachelor,” saying, “While I was going through this breakup, one of my friends named Nina signed me up for ‘The Bachelor’ and sent it in our group chat. To me, I thought it was just a little lighthearted joke to make me feel better and we all had a nice laugh about it. Time went on and I didn’t think twice about it. I didn’t have any connections with anyone that’s been on the show, so I just kind of forgot about it.”
Then, as Jess was continuing to process her breakup, she got a call that changed her life forever.
She said, “A couple of months later, it was my ex’s birthday and I was at my friend’s house because I didn’t want to be alone on that day. I wanted to distract myself and be with my friend. I got reached out to by someone on the show. Obviously I wanted to go on, but in that moment, I did not care what God intended my path to look like. For me, it was a sign that I was going to be okay. It was literally on his birthday and to have that reassurance was enough for me because I was so down.”
Jess eventually got cast on the show and is so grateful she decided to listen to that sign from the universe.
She said, “Fast-forward, I obviously ended up doing it and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I have been learning so much about myself reading all the comments, good and bad. I have grown so much in the last two years than I have in my whole life. Whenever I’m doubting where I’m at in life, what’s the next step for me, I always think about that call on that specific day and how my life has panned out since then. For me it was a sign that it’s not over for me. I know people are like you’re literally 24, you’re so young, but I literally thought I would be married by now.”
Jess ended her video sharing why she felt rushed and revealed what she has learned, saying, “Everyone has different paths in life. There’s no rulebook for what age you have to be engaged, be in a relationship, or whatever, but just giving context on why I put so much pressure on myself because I thought I was a little behind in life.”
We are so glad Bachelor Nation fans have gotten to know and love Jess and we can’t wait to continue to follow along her journey.
