Tessa Tookes & Her Fiancé Joey Go Viral for Calling Out Wedding Dress Designer for Discrimination
Clapping back.
Tessa Tookes from Season 26 of “The Bachelor” got engaged to Joey Kirchner on “Bachelor in Paradise Canada” this past year.
Now the two are planning their wedding day and just reached an unexpected, upsetting speed bump in the wedding planning process.
On the couple’s TikTok page, they posted a video about Tessa’s wedding dress shopping experience that has quickly raked in over 3 million views and hundreds of thousands of likes.
In the video, Joey says, “Wedding dress designers, we have a problem and I need to address something with you here. My beautiful, gorgeous, strong, confident future bride Tessa went to buy a wedding gown and had a problem.”
He went on, saying, “She went to the store, which is supposed to be one of the most magical days of her life, and she went to purchase this beautiful wedding dress. The lady says ‘Glad you found your dress, the undergarment choices come in two options. The standardized choice is nude which is free, but if you’d like the undergarment to match your skintone, there’s an upcharge.’”
Joey was enraged by this information and called out the designer for this discrimination.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “So you’re telling me that it’s free to be white, but if my bride has a different skin tone than white she has to pay extra money for the undergarment to match her skin tone? First of all, why is the standard white? How f*cked is that that in 2024, the standard which is free, is a nude white skin tone. Nude can be a lot of different colors, but they decided to make white nude the standard. This is absolutely f*cking ridiculous.”
Joey said Tessa was left standing in the store awkwardly not sure what to do, but she decided to take the undergarments into her own hands.
Joey explained, “So now she’s ordering the wedding dress and she’s going to dye the undergarment herself to match her skin tone. Wedding dress designers, take notes. This is bullsh*t and you should be called out.”
We are so glad the couple is highlighting this issue and the comments were filled with other brides saying it’s about time someone called out this issue.
We can’t wait for Joey and Tessa to tie the knot, and we know Tessa will look beautiful in her gown while also making a difference using their voices.
