Bachelor Nation Responds to Producer Conversations About a Queer Season: ‘Love Is Universal’
Looking ahead.
Bachelor Nation shows have been on air for more than 22 years and for over 60 seasons across our shows, and there’s still so much more to come.
Our shows’ executive producers Claire Freeland, Bennett Graebner, and Jason Ehrlich sat down for an exclusive chat with Variety where they discussed the future of the Bachelor franchise.
They teased that they are thinking about doing a Golden season of “Bachelor in Paradise,” with Jason saying, “We’d love to do that eventually. I mean, how fun would it be to see single men and women in their 60s and 70s on the beach or in the Bachelor pad or somewhere, hanging out and falling in love? We’d love to do that and hope we get the opportunity.”
The executive producers also discussed doing a queer season of “The Bachelor” and how they’ve been wanting to explore an LGBTQ+ season.
Jason said, “We hope to get the opportunity to do that. The most wonderful thing is that love is universal and so is the frustration of not finding love. We’d love the opportunity to tell all kinds of people’s stories.”
Bennett also chimed in, sharing, “During my tenure on the show, the two spinoffs that have been pitched to be the most frequently are a Bachelor for older people and a gay Bachelor. We checked one of those boxes. We’re talking about checking out the other box.”
The executive producers share that they are very invested in telling different stories, so they hope to continue to expand to LGBTQ+ stories and more.
Bachelor Nation fans have been reacting to this news with excitement.
One fan commented on Instagram, “This would be epic and so important for representation!”
And another said, “PLEASE! I would watch a gay season. We’re so ready Bachelor Nation!”
The executive producers haven’t revealed any more about future spinoffs at this time, but we’ll keep you posted here on BachelorNation.com!
