This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Charlie O’Connell Starts Bachelor Journey with Speed Dates
Not your typical night one!
This week in Bachelor Nation history, we’re looking back on a very unique “Bachelor” premiere.
Season 7 of “The Bachelor” kicked off this week in 2005, and Charlie O'Connell began his journey to find love.
Unlike the usual night one at the Bachelor Mansion, Season 7 started in New York City, where the women of his season were staying in hotel rooms.
Instead of having ample time to get ready to meet their Bachelor, the women vying for Charlie’s heart got the surprise of a lifetime when they found out they only had five minutes to get ready and meet Charlie in the lobby for speed dates.
The speed dates came with two opportunities for First Impression Roses, so the women had to go all out.
And that they did!
Kimberly famously unbuttoned her top and hopped right into Charlie’s lap, while Kristine stripped down to a bikini and read Charlie a poem.
Geitan made a memorable impression on the Bachelor by coming in doing an impression of a chicken, and labor and delivery nurse Sarah B. taught Charlie how to coach women through labor.
The two women to receive the speed date roses were Sarah W. and Kerry, who Charlie learned quickly that he had a lot in common with.
And while two women were thrilled to receive roses right away, five other women were sent home immediately after the speed dating.
Just when you think the premiere episode couldn’t get any more unpredictable, the women moved into a loft and were informed that there would be three group dates that week and they were deciding who was going on which date.
Talk about a twist!
