Charity Lawson & Dotun Olubeko Share How Their Relationship Wasn’t All a ‘Fairy Tale’ After Bachelorette

Bachelor Nation fans saw Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko fall in love and get engaged on Season 20 of “The Bachelorette.”
Since their time on the show, the two have been enjoying time together with their family and friends and have moved in together in New York City.
Now, the couple stopped by Kaitlyn Bristowe’s “Off the Vine” podcast and opened up about their time after the show.
Kaitlyn asked the duo about the reality of their relationship after the filming and airing of “The Bachelorette.”
Charity shared that she felt like their relationship was able to fully begin after all the filming and airing wrapped.
The former Bachelorette said, “I feel like people say the two biggest tests of a relationship are traveling together and moving in with someone. When we moved, we had so much time on our hands and we were dealing with big life tasks while also spending so much time together.”
She added, “All these things I had never noticed before I started noticing, in a good way. It was necessary to see and the beauty of it was learning how to make it all work. We always say, not in a mean way, but that life isn’t a fairy tale. Coming off the show you realize, oh yeah, it’s not the reality for the rest of our lives.”
Dotun agreed with his fiancée and shared his thoughts with Kaitlyn.
He said, “The way we fell in love was like a fairy tale, but you’d be naïve to think that after that it would always continue that way. It’s just not. You have to be for real. After our engagement, I was taking it all in in our amazing villa. Charity had her back turned to me and I was just staring at her and I was just hoping that it would continue like that.”
Dotun explained, “A lot of luck is also involved. People don’t want to talk about that. You can work hard, but you also have to get lucky with compatibility. We are just so lucky that it worked out in this way.”
