Jenn Tran Responds to Hurtful Racist Comments She Received on Social Media: ‘Not Okay’
Speaking up.
Bachelor Nation fans have been watching Jenn Tran’s season of “The Bachelorette” unfold each week and she’s been extremely open and vulnerable as she looks for love on-screen.
As fans know, Jenn is the first ever Asian American Bachelorette and has faced multiple instances of hurtful, racist comments during her time as the lead.
Ahead of the finale airing, Jenn posted a screenshot of two hurtful comments people recently left on one of her posts about her heritage, how it “doesn’t matter” and how “she is not Asian.”
Jenn responded to the disappointing messages with a clap back that she shared on her Instagram story.
The Bachelorette wrote, “I don’t love bringing light to negativity, but this is so upsetting to me because this comment comes from someone who grew up never knowing what it feels like to truly feel like an outsider in your own world.”
She goes on to say, “It is so important to celebrate people’s cultures, identities, ethnicities, traditions, and differences. By ignoring them you are telling us that we don’t matter. That our identities don’t matter. Which is not okay.”
As a reminder, here at Bachelor Nation we don’t tolerate any sort of online bullying or racist behavior.
We continue to support Jenn and will be rooting her on throughout the rest of her season and beyond!
