Susie Evans & Justin Glaze Open Up About Their Breakup for the First Time: ‘I Have Regrets’
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation stars Susie Evans and Justin Glaze announced their relationship earlier this year after a long-standing “are they/aren’t they?” dynamic on social media.
After about eight months of posting PDA-filled photos and videos, the couple became quiet about their relationship online and fans speculated about the status of their relationship.
After Susie shared that she and Justin wanted to figure things out privately, it is now confirmed that the couple has officially broken up.
Susie and Justin separately went on the “Almost Famous” podcast to discuss with co-hosts Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti where they’re at now with their lives and their feelings about the breakup.
While chatting with Ben, Justin confirmed that he and Susie are no longer together and that they’ve been trying their best to protect each other privately as they navigate this new chapter.
“It has not been easy,” Justin admitted. “We still have a ton of love for each other, we’re on great terms, and we still talk and communicate… I’m very fortunate to have someone like Susie in my life.”
He went on to say that he and Susie have always been on the same page in terms of their relationship and how to address it now that it’s over.
When asked if he would have a public relationship again, he said, “I don’t want to put any limits on myself and say yes or no. You never know what the future holds, so I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Justin explained further that having a public relationship has been tough sometimes, especially when he receives comments that constantly remind him of the relationship. He shared, “I ignore them, but my mom sees [the comments], so she’ll call me and be like ‘Hey, are you okay?’ and I’m like, ‘I’m trying to be,’ but it’s this constant reminder.”
Susie shared similar sentiments during her time on the podcast, saying, “We aren’t together, but we love each other so freaking much, like to the point where it’s just painful for the both of us, so that’s been tough to navigate.”
Having gone through a public breakup before with Clayton Echard from “The Bachelorette” and “The Bachelor,” Susie shared, “It is just so painful and I have regrets from how the last one went, to be honest, even though I feel like I was mostly private about that too.”
She went on to say, “The little bit that you give to people, the way people recap it or put their own twist on it or make assumptions… it can be perceived in a way you don’t want it to be.”
Susie also explained that while having Justin be one of her best friends made their relationship special, it also made the breakup more difficult. “Knowing I can’t get that back, that is what sucks so bad for both of us,” she admitted emotionally.
She shared, “I’ve never had somebody that’s been such a best friend that’s also become a partner, so I do think it could work with the right person and with the right tools and the right headspace.”
Susie later mentioned that part of the reason she feels they haven’t addressed their breakup is because they feel like they don’t know what could happen in the future and saying it out loud makes it real. However, Susie is currently looking forward to trying out new things, including the release of her podcast, “Live, Laugh, and Lies,” which comes out soon.
We’re wishing nothing but the best for both Susie and Justin as they navigate this new chapter.
