Joey Graziadei Trains Rugby Star Ilona Maher on How to Be the Bachelorette: ‘Will You Accept This Rose?’
Collecting Olympic medals and handing out roses?!
Last summer, Bachelor Nation fans watched Jenn Tran’s season of “The Bachelorette” unfold while also watching the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Amid the Olympic excitement, rugby star and Olympic medalist Ilona Maher went viral and cracked fans up on social media as she looked for love in the Olympic Village.
Ilona’s videos garnered millions of views, and Bachelor Nation fans called for her to be the next Bachelorette.
Now, Ilona has shared a video of her “training” for this role with a little help from former Bachelor Joey Graziadei, who is teaching her how to “properly” hand out roses.
In the video, the two reenact a Rose Ceremony and Joey says, “So I’ve heard a lot of people want you to maybe be the Bachelorette, but I wanna train you for it. I wanna get you ready. So I’m going to have you grab [this rose] and you’re going to act like you’re in a Rose Ceremony. Whatever you want to do naturally, let’s see it first.”
Ilona then starts and, pretending to be the Bachelorette, says, “Thank you all for coming. This has been so fun? And you’re all beautiful, but I don’t like all of you.”
Joey steps in and shares that the beginning was good but gives a correction to be a little gentler in the second half.
Ilona then tries again and takes a different approach adding, “You’re not all ugly, but some of you just aren’t my type. You know? That’s fine.”
Joey gives his approval and then transitions to have her practice handing out roses. Acting like one of the contestants, Joey walks up to receive a rose and Ilona states, “Joey… your vibe has been terrible this whole time. I just don’t know if you’re for me.”
Joey stops Ilona and reminds her that she only calls up people to receive a rose that she wants to continue dating, so the two try one more time. Ilona calls Joey up again and asks, “Joey… um, take rose? Take rose. Will you accept this rose?”
Ilona captioned the post, “Definitely have some work to do: be nicer to men being the main issue here.”
Fans and fellow Bachelor Nation stars loved the video and filled the comments with their support for this idea.
Jason Tartick wrote, “This is incredible,” and singer Jessie James Decker added, “Omg yes. Need this to happen.”
Joey also commented, “That’s my @bacheloretteabc !!!!” and DWTS host Julianne Hough said, “Count me in!!”
We love ideas like this — keep them coming! We’re so glad Joey and Ilona are such great friends and we love seeing them achieve their dreams!
