Serene Russell Shares Vulnerable Egg-Freezing Video: ‘I’ve Never Injected Myself with Anything Before’

Bachelor Nation fans got to know Serene Russell on Season 26 of “The Bachelor” and Season 8 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Last month, Serene took to social media and revealed that she would be freezing her eggs, saying, “I really just wanted to empower myself as a woman and take my fertility into my own hands. And give myself more choices for the future.”
She added, “I’ve honestly never been happier and more excited. This is my future and my future children and it just feels so empowering.”
Now, the Bachelor Nation star is taking the first step in the egg-freezing process by starting her medications.
She took to Instagram to share a video of herself giving herself her first shot and said she’s “nervous because I’ve never injected myself with anything before.”
Alongside the video, Serene wrote, “Starting medications made this feel so ‘real.’ I don’t do well with needles and can never look for shots so I was shocked when I was able to inject myself every day! Truly so proud that I was able to push past a very real fear every evening for injections.”
In the video Serene shows how she cleans the injection site, pinches her skin, and says “I can do it” as she injects herself.
After her first shot, she said it hurt, but it “wasn’t that bad.”
She ended her post by saying she is thankful for her medical team for “being there every step of the way, through every little freak out wondering if I was messing up, or question- just to be met with insight and comforting support every time!”
She asked fans to fill her comments with questions about her journey and she would be answering them throughout this process.
