Charity Lawson Reveals She Did ‘Something Crazy for Love,' Plus: Her Dream ‘Happy Hour’ Guests

Bachelor Nation fans watched Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko fall in love and get engaged on Season 20 of “The Bachelorette.” Since wrapping the show, the couple has been soaking up time with family and friends and recently moved in together in New York City.
Charity and Dotun love sharing updates from their life online, and Charity also cohosts the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast.
This week, Charity opened up her Instagram Stories for a Q&A with her hundreds of thousands of followers. One fan asked for advice about putting themselves out there in the dating world, admitting they “need to find a boyfriend” this year.
The former Bachelorette got candid with her response. “It’s no secret I did something crazy for love,” she wrote. “But I think the first step is changing your verbiage. Saying you NEED to find a boyfriend this year is… by whose timeline??? Release that pressure and give yourself grace. Dating should be fun and exciting, not something debilitating you check off your to-do list.”
Charity followed up with more thoughtful advice: “Put yourself out there in natural settings (I know, it’s hard!). Maybe that means being more willing to go to events alone or with friends. Try a new hobby or dive deeper into one you already love and look for social activities around that. Dating apps (my least favorite advice)… but hey, they can work! Be open to receiving and let it come to you. Challenge and reward yourself by slowly stepping outside your comfort zone.”
